Default Lowrider question

I usually hang out in the touring section but figured this would be the best place to ask this question. Lady I know is looking to get either a Softail Deluxe or a Dyna Lowrider. I located a 2007 Lowrider, appears stock, 12.6 k miles, passenger backrest and small luggage rack. Needs tires soon. Asking $9200 OBO

I looked at the NADA and KBB but know they are guides at best. How does this sound for price. Quick visual condition was real good, haven't heard it run.

Thanks

That's not a bad price if it's selling at a dealership. I've recently seen a used 07 Lowrider at a dealer selling for about $9.5k. Assuming this bike is a very good condition (never wrecked, no dings, mechanically sound etc) and considering this one needs new tires, I'd offer $8,500 and if he doesn't bite, maybe meet in the middle. She could also remind the seller that the bike will need to be serviced in another 2k miles. And I would ask if it's had the 10k service done to it too.

Depending on her skill level, the lowrider might be a better fit for her than the softail. Overall it's a better ride, whether you're a new rider or not.

It's actually a private sale on a military base "lemon lot" a FSBO lot. Bike looks good, tank has no dings, chrome shines, the only detractor is the rear wheel. Looks like mno one bothered to clean it with the rest of the bike. Mufflers have no rust or discoloration and are stock, have the HD EPA imprint on the bottom. Course they may have been in a box in a garage till recently. Tires had 2-3/32nd front and maybe 4-5/32nd in the rear. Didn't have my tire depth gage with me

I don't know her well. She is a slender 5'3' and had had HD bikes in the past. Don't know what her skill level.

I actually might look for a similar bike around the 1st of the year to compliment the FLHTK. Going to retire next year and take trips on the EG, Also will load it in my toyhauler and can see having a smaller lighter bike for day cruising. If she shows no interest, it's tempting.

What issue should she or I look for in an 07?

No issues that I know of. I have an '08 lowrider and it's pretty much the same bike. No issues at all with mine. Also, being that she's only 5' 3" the mids on the lowrider might be more comfortable for her than the forwards on the softail. Assuming the previous owner didn't switch over to forwards. If he did, it's easy to switch back to mids.

Is 12k about an average mileage on the front of a bike like this. I've got 20 on my FLHTK with more tread than the dyna has. Since the rear has more tread, it's an HG tire, I assume it's been replaced. Even if the front still has a 1-2/32nd left to ride, I would be concerned about the tire age.

Thanks for the info

Less tread on the rear could be an indication of stationary burnouts. Also a Dyna Low is about 14K new, 9.5K might be alittle high. Offer 8K and work from there.

Thanks, the rear had more tread so I figure it's been replaced once already but it has less than 1/2 left. Front I figure is original. What is average, if there is such a things a tire average, on HD tires on this bike. On the newer touring bikes, people are getting 12-20K off the stock rubber. Bigger tires, different compounds.

I must have misread. Tire mileage? It varies to much with road conditions, temps, riding style. You said 1/2 left on rear, bikes got 12.6k on the clock, fronts worn more than rear (which may have been replaced once). Something don't sound rite.
