I just modified my stock exhaust and noticed the same thing when I reinstalled the shields. Looks like something we just have to live with if we choose to stay with the stock exhaust (look anyways).

I switched the clamps and with minimal force it fit, however if I follow the service diagram I get what is pictured. My problem is, and blueangel73 tell me if you have experienced the same thing, is that the rear pipe clamp that secures the heatshield to the exhaust forces the side towards the mufflers outward. If I clamp all the way it will damage the heat shield so I am fairly sure that it is incorrect. Thanks for the help guys.

That would work but I will be keeping it on until I move from Germany (about 9 months, so I have to do it right) I am stationed by Cochem about an hour and a half from Frankfurt.

alright for anyone having the same problem as me....follow the manual to a "T", lol.

All I did was loosen up every bolt and the rear of the exhaust dropped by about an inch and a half (just enough to orient the P-Clamp how it is supposed to be). All is good now. Thanks for everyone who offered up some advice.
