Default Dam School Busses

Yesterday, Friday, I decided that I was going to take my St. Bob to work with me. Since my alternative high school students always ask about my bike I often take itso that it will motivate themto finish school and maybe one own a Harley Davidson. On my way to work, however, the unimaginagle happened. I wastravelling northboundand I noticedthat a school bus was headed southbound on the same street I was on.This street I was traveling on is a 55-60mph zone, yet I always travel at a moderate speed since I like to enjoy my motorcycle and the moment. I was traveling at approxiametley 35-40mph when I noticed that the school bus nose dove to the left hand side at a distance of maybe two blocks from me. For some reason the ******* bus driver decided that he was not going to give the right of way and blocked my way. I applied the rear break and skidded and was able to hit the bus with the bike's right hand side. The bus driver recieved a ticket for not giving me the right of way. He also stated that he was lost and on the phone when the accident happened. Now I am pissed off since I do not have a motorcycle to drive this weekend. Worst yet, what really pissed me off is that this ******* does not know have a clue of how hard I worked last summerin order to come up with a big down payment to finance my bike or how hard I work in order to keep my bike clean. It took 3 seconds of this *******'s life to destroy what I have worked so hard for. Please excuse my aggression but I needed to get this off my chest and talk to someone about it.

A few bus drivers have an attitude. They get all the press aboutthem and their precious cargoand they begin to think that they should have the right-of-way over all others on the road. I can't recall the number of times they have turned in front of me or looked right at me and pulled out anyway. They are constantly involved in accidents here. I watch them like a hawk.
I'm surprised that the driver got the ticket.

That really sucks Skunk! Hope you came out of w/o an injury. Never had that experience with a school bus. I do have to watch out for large farm equipment; 'specially during harvest.

I've been riding for 29 years and fourtunately, have never been hit or ran into another vehicle. Not to say I haven't laid a few bikes down. One thing I learned from one of my first riding partners: Always ride as if you were a target. The single, most common responce from the average cager who just hit a mc is "I never saw him/her".

Thats really cool that you use your bike to motivate your students to finish school - hope you continue to do so despite the @#$wipe bus driver's stupidity.

The Harley is a great motivator!

Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad you're okay.

I dispatch a small fleet of trucks so we're constantly preaching on the erratic behavior of school busses and garbage trucks to our drivers. Hopefully they see them as a warning sign, as you just reminded me I need to do.

Here's to a fast Harley recovery!

Think you all will agree -Skunk gets my vote as the unofficial 'Rider of the Month'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mom is a history proffesor - this story may keep her off my back (I'll leave out the part about the collision)

How bad is the damage to you Bob? I would asume no issues with getting the damage paid for by the bus co...make sure to give us a post when you get it back together!

Being a school bus driver is important, but they don't exactly hire geniuses to drive those things.

Hopefully, between the bus company's insurance, the School District, and YOUR insurance, you should be able to get your ride fixed w/o having to take any more money of of your wallet. Sorry to hear about your wreck, but glad you came up unscathed.

School Bus drivers and migrant truck drivers forces people around here to be on pins and needles at all times while riding.

Thanx for all your support friends. I did come out of the accident without any injuries. Unfortunatly, if in the future I want to sellor trade in my bike I have to disclose that is has been in automobile accident which I think depreciates the value of my St. Bob. What kills me is that I just gotmy bike is a 2007 which I barely got this year.
