Default throttle Cable Peeling

Any bandaids that you guys can come up with that works. The rubber covering on one of the throttle cables is peeling in one spot. It looks like I can get a clue or rubber glue and keep it from water reaching the metal under the rubber. Any best practices to help with this. I thought of Shrink Wrap but I thought maybe you guys have a better idea. Don't have the money to replace the cheap cables currently.

I am going to do that next year, I just wanted something to get me thru the next few months before I put it away. Have a kid on the way so money towards my bike is non-existent so I will do the shrink wrap and see if that can hold of for a few months. Thanks!!!!
