hey guys i have a friend who has a SCREAMIN EAGLE EFI RACE TUNER kit that he had on his 06 fatboy will it work on my 06 street bob i read somewere that ONCE THESE ARE USED ON A BIKE THEY ARE DEDICATED TO THAT BIKE is that true???
Wrong thats a myth. Once removed it will clear from theECM codes and it WILL work on another bike so long as it is cleared on removal. Call your dealership and they will confirm this. Unless they are crooked. I don't think though that that SERT will work on a BOB you'll want to ask that as well.
I copied this directly from the users manual on my Race Tuner software.
Note
: The EFI Tuner Interface Module is a "single unit" design that permanently links to the ECM the first time communication is established. The Interface Module can then be used an infinite number of times with that ECM, but the Interface Module will not communicate with any other ECMâs.
Owner must
Store Interface Module in a Secure Place for future tuning or data recording. If the Interface Module is lost or broken a new Screamin' Eagle EFI Tuner kit must be purchased to obtain a new Interface Module that can communicate with the ECM.
Im not sure if it can be made clearer than that unless your talking a hack.Once you hook it up,itll work with the initial ecm only.
If there is in fact a workaround,I havent heard if it yet.I have heard of people having to buy a new ecm because of trouble with USB connectors and other problems with the tuner.Personally,I wouldnt think its worth the chance of messing something up.
