I agree. I think our more robust members may find more comfort on a bike with a wider seat ( like a touring bike). The switchback, being a dyna, is significantly narrower. I mean that in the most respectful way.

I've had mine since June. For what I do it's the near perfect bike. It's mostly day rides under 300 miles but I could easily do cross country rides solo, not so much 2-up. The only real comfort thing I've done is throwing some Nightster bars on it to relieve my shoulders. Good choice overall. Kurt

I recently traded my Road King for a Wide Glide because I wanted a lighter, faster, more agile bike that was still comfortable for me on longer rides. I considered a Switchback too and even rented one for a weekend, but ultimtaley decided I liked the looks and the feel of the Wide Glide better. I mostly ride solo and don't have the time to do cross country trips at this stage of my life. I'll probably own a touring bike again one day, but for now I'm happy with my Dyna Wide Glide.

Tx, you will need to test drive both to be sure. I love my switchback and could imagine doing any length ride on it. YES the bags are smaller but thats about the only drawback compared to a tourer. If you want a fairing, larger bags and a radio etc and you're 6ft plus you might as well go for a tourer. Like any Harley it all about what your plans are think about what kind of bike you want after any mods. Lol

I was set on a switchback and was going to buy it that day. Well until I saw the Wide Glide by the front door. Well the Wide Glide was just totaled and now I am thinking of the Switchback again.

I just got my Switchback on Monday and I love it. At 6'3" I'm gonna add the tallboy seat and maybe some highway pegs to add a little more stretch but did not want a full dresser. Like the option of stripping her down.

I've had my Switchback for about a month and 350 miles and love it. I did have a little bit of vibration, but the clevis pin mod smoothed everything out. I'll probably put a slip on or full exhaust on at some point. I changed the seat to a LePera Silhouette up front 2-up to get me a little lower and closer to the controls.

I've got a 'proto-type' FLD Switchback ...

(actually, an '05 FXD with a few modifications) ...

I just rode back to back days of almost 600 miles ... I did 565 miles Wednesday, Nov 14 and 590 miles on Thursday, Nov 15 ... I am not the biggest fan of the '09 Street Bob seat that I am sporting ... but, whatever ...

I have over 54,000 miles on the clock ... I can probably count the number of 500+ mile days on one hand (might need another finger or two) ...

I've got the pre-'80s FLH hard bags ... I think their volume falls somewhere between the modern Touring bags and the Switchback bags ...

I think there are some good solutions to finding/making adequate luggage space/volume if you get creative ... seen several Switchback owners sporting 'Tour Paks' ... a couple with non-standard saddlebags ... etc. ...

If, as and when I end up parting with my 'proto-type' ... I would definitely consider the MoCo original FLD Switchback as a replacement option ...
