Default Stage 1?

I am ready to do a stage 1 on my 2011 FXDC Super Glide. I plan to do future upgrades so I am thinking I should go with a Power Vision Tuner now. I currently have V&H Twin Slash Slip-ons and Cat free headers. My question is is this exhause good enough to get max benefit? If not recomendations please. Also ideas for A/C are welcome. FYI the bike has forward controls on it. I have tried the search function and the results are over whelming, alot of info but nothing that addresses my particular questions.

Give the folks at fuelmoto a call. They offer excellent service and free map updates if you buy the power vision from them. I recently did a Power Vision tune, S&S free flow and a samson 2 into 1 and have been very impressed with increase in power and driveablility.

You will get better sound once you do the exhaust, (full exhaust is better, slip ons are more for sound) but the performance will be marginal until you do the A/C.
The 2-1 will give you the best performance.

As far as tuners go, I like the TTS the best. The TTS is similiar to the SERTPRO but more user friendly if you want to tinker with self tuning. The only way to get it 100% dialed in is to get it dynotuned. If you end up doing that then it's all about finding the right guy to tune it and making sure you are done with engine mods.

A well tuned stage one bike is night and day difference on performance and just pure cruisablilty of the bike.

I have tge same bike as you. I went with V&H Big Shots and Performance Mashine Super Gas AC. Also I use the SERT for tuning.

Yeah get rid of the slipons. I went with the Vance & Hines bigshot staggered because I like the looks of two pipes rather than one. Although the two into one may make more power. As for the a/c go with the HD heavy breather. It makes more power and torque than a conventional highflow a/c. The tuner is up to you, but stay away from the piggyback ones. I went with the SEPST, yeah it is a little pricey, but the way I figure it is to do it right the first time and not throw good money away after bad. JMO. Look at the numbers in my sig, I'm very happy with the results.

Do you want to be 'hands-on' with the equipment or not?
If you're paying someone to do it (install/set-up/tune) use the tuner they are comfortable with.
I have nothing but praise for the piggy-back PC-V, but admit there are better options out there. All depends what you're willing to spend.

Thanks for the tips. I really like the look of the SE heavy breather. And I'm sold on the PV with the ability to adapt to future mods. For exhaust I'm looking at Reinhart crossbacks. Any opinions on this?

Default Stage One Opinions

Hey Bro-

You will get a lot of opinions on this issue, but you have to please yourself. You get the style of Air Cleaner that you like, and an exhaust that fulfills the vision you have for your ride.

I went with the very free breathing Kuryakin High Five Mach II, which will support up to, I believe, 140 HP, and the Vance & Hines Big Radius 2-Into-2 Exhaust system, mainly because I think it looks Bad-***, but it also flows a hell of a lot of exhaust. I eventualy fitted the Thunder Monster QQ baffles to add some back pressure, which also added a few more HP.

Good luck with your enhancement of your ride, and post some photos here when you are done!

Ride Safe-

-Ray
