So what do I say? Walk into the stealership and say "You jacked my bike up and it's running to lean? Fix it. I'm no expert, so what do I do? Print out the posts here?
I'd go to another dealer and get a second opinion.
Damn things are lean from the factory.
Tell you what's the best thing you can do. Just order you a PCIII from Jamie at fuelmoto, and have him premapp it for your upgrades. That will get you thru safely for a while. Then when you get some more bones saved up, you can take it and have it custom tuned.
Oops, just seen you already had the SERT. Probably a better system than the PCIII anyway.
Yeah, since you've done bought the race tuner, and paid them to run it, take it back and tell them you want to see those AF numbers below 14 all the way across, and let them know you're not paying for it either, as it should have been done right to begin with.
Thanks Psycho,
Guess I will run it in there when the weather clears. Glad for this site, cause I wouldn't know any better. How could they let this roll out of their shop? At least I have the paperwork if the engine blows. Hell I guess I should have just left it stock. At the end of the Dyno sheet it reads about 14.5, does that matter?
Even if you had a straight air fuel linie at 14.5, which you don't, it would still be lean.
Yours is all over the place. Looks like somebody either didn't know what they were doing, or got lazy tuning it.
Most of the hotrods I've ever built develop the most power around 12.9 to 13.5. That's old school stuff though, but even looking at my chart, and others, you can see they are still tuning them below 14.
Relax! You were wise to get the stage #1 & the Race Tuner. Ask the wrench if those numbers put your machine in any jeopardy and if so have it corrected. Remember that you have a 2 yr. warrenty. I'll call my wrench in the morning & get a answer for you.
Here's some interesting reading for you. Dynos with AF charts, before and after, and explanations for what they did and why to correct different fuel mixture problems.
Psycho,
Will this hurt my bike the way it is? You say the Harleys coming from the factory are lean. Can I ride this safely or am I going to have a blown motor. I don't beat the hell outof my bike, just cruise.
If it was mine, I wouldn't ride it till I got it taken care of. That's just me. These are air cooled engines. If it was water cooled, I wouldn't be as worried about it.
