Looking to lower a FLD. I've tried the Progressive 440's along w/a seat from an 07 Dyna Lowrider and rides like a hardtail. Thinking of trying the LaPera Bare Bones seat and stock shocks w/lowering blocks. Do ya'll know of anyone that has come out w/some yet?
yes, i tried some blocka from my 07 lowrider and it didn't work w/saddlebags. 440's were HD, 11". Bought a wrench and messed w/preload. Tried everything. Even tried calling progressive and email. Only get recordings and no replies. This is the 2nd set of PG's I've paid bookoo bucks for. Bought some for a Sportster 1200L and was the same result. either too stiff or bottom out. I own 5 HD's but I'll not invest anymore $ on PG's. OK, sorry this has turned into a bash on PG's but it is what it is.
An 11 inch shock on any Dyna is not going to give you a smooth ride. Lowering blocks can be even worse because the shock angle is increased and the end result will be a rough ride and stressed out shock mounts. What you are asking for is not attainable. You can't have a smooth ride with reduced suspension travel.

the 440s aren't made for the FLD.. you need to buy the 11" shocks that were specifically designed for the FLD and i think you will have a much better ride..
contact Saphira on this site as she has the full progressive suspension on hers http://www.progressivesuspension.com...7&modelID=1246
Why do you want a lower switchback. I rented one and loved it. I am a short guy at 5'4" and would not need it lower. Now if you like a really low look an adjustable suspension would be perfect except for price.

2 people can be the same 5'4" and have different length inseams, sounds like you have been graced with longer legs.. i am 5'5" and had a little trouble as in i wasn't as flat footed as i wanted to be until i swapped out to a fat bob seat which actually lowered me more than the HD reach seat and is a lot more comfortable

I am about 5'4" and 1/2" and would like to be flat footed on my Switchback. I was going to send my seat top Mean City Cycles to have it taken down about 2", but I may see if my dealer has a Fat Bob seat that I could try on the bike.
There is one way to lower your bike that will keep everything working. A smaller diameter rear wheel and lower profile tires. Try this approach and be happy but you can drag some things you don't now. I had to do that with my wide glide. In the wind.
