it is a complicated topic. But all in all, the video was damn funny. That was the only point I wanted to make. Now would I go out and exploit someone like he did ? No way. but he did it as a joke. Who knows he may know all the guys and set the whole thing up. But you have to admit it was very funny. My sister is married to a mexican and he thought it was funny as hell. sometimes its ok to laugh at yourself . Some people take things way to seriously and might need to calm down a bit.

Warren,
well for the most part the mexicans that illegally come here are not working in maufacturing. They are working in jobs such as construction, landscaping, day labor type jobs where the greedy american business owner can get away with paying low wages, not having the right documents for them and cheating the system. That in turn will make the legit landscape company, small business home builder in a bad situation because they now cant compete for jobs because of the low bidding by the greedy american business owner paying the illegal aliens a cheaper rate. So to confuse the fact that the manufacturing sector being shipped overseas is not at all the same thing, or has anything to do with illegal aliens coming over here.

To respond to your statement about laws and helmets annd such. You are talking about apples and oranges. The illegals know the rules and laws when they decide to break them. Most of the time they are not put in jail or anything like that. They are merely brought back to where they came from. I dont think that is inhumane at all. Now most people know what the law is for not wearing a helmet. They choose to take that chance, and when caught pay the punishment for it. I dont see your point about the laws ????

How do you feel about the mexicans and whoever else hanging the american flag below the mexican flag ? Not only that but flying it upside down ? These people come to the country and then wanna talk about how bad it is here. GIVE ME A BREAK.
Mike,

I agree with you that there are cases where "greedy" companies in America exploit low wage illegal immigrants. However, I also think there are industries where that has to occur as present. In other words, the debate about American's needing the illegal immigrant to make our economy work at the price points that we want. The alternative is that prices go up for a variety of industries. While I'm sure there are cases of profit gouging, I doubt that is an extended situation in any given industry because competition would destroy the profit margin eventually.

Anyway - Again... I am not condoning the practice. I am not condoning illegal immigration. It isa tough problem because as you've indicated, if we just open the borders we'll be swamped. But I do feel for these people (I could imagine their life that drove them to take these risks). And the entire start of my thread was not about allowing it to happen - but rather expressing disgust at the guy who made the video. I sincerely doubt his motivations were about American jobs. His motivation is that he hates peple and wants to make fun of them.

Regarding my comparison of helmet laws or EPA laws - I'm not comparing the crime or the punishment (which is an entirely different debate). But I am saying that it wouldn't be funny to make a video of some jerk turning in EPA violators. And the punishment for that is just a fine. But we are laughing at some guy playing a joke on illegal immigrants that could cause them to be deported and / or separated from their family. My point is that the humor was in poor taste - and if the tables were turned and someone was messing with what WE care about - we might not find it so funny. I'm trying to bring it to a personal level where perhaps we can feel some empathy for these people. It is too easy to dehumanize them into an enemy. That is what ****'s did to persecute minorities - turn them into an object and dehumanize them. That is what all racists do... because if you see people as human beings, it is impossible to be so cruel. It's the old "do unto others... " concept.

Finally - I do not find disrespecting the American flag or American opportunities funny or acceptable. I believe this country has accomplished unbelievable things in its

Um, I am sorry to break it to you but, YES they are criminals. They very same way you would be if you tried to go to Mexico without going thru the proper process. Or any other country that you want to go to. Do you think that other countries are going to let you walk right in and set up your family with disregard to their citizenship laws ? I am gonna take a wild guess and say no. So why should it be ok for people to come here illegally. Oh, and they do have the same tools as anyone else has to better themselves. Do you not think that there are people in this country that came from Mexico legally. I am going to bet that there are, and even going to say that they are doing very well here. So why if they can do it right cant everyone else.

If you want people to all be the same and afforded the same things in life, you are living in the wrong country. Go to a country like Russia. everyonehas the same level of wealth. See how much you like it. You make no sense. Can you imagine if the US had no laws in regards to the borders ? People could just wander on over as they please. Are you kidding? Do you think this country would be the same. NO WAY. your life that you have would be totally different if the US were to just open up the borders and allow anyone to walk, fly or boat on in. You have clearly not thought about the consequences of your statements.
Let me guess (don't get upset, just a guess), you have never been outside of the US, speak only one language and have no interest in learning any other language or culture, you think your race is the ultimate race, things in your life are your way or the highway, highschool grad that learned nothing but American history.
Let me tell you about myself. My father came to this countrywithout papers, hewanted to give his children a start and he had to start from the ground up. You see, you are not only calling those people criminals, you are calling my father a criminal and I'm pretty much a criminal's son. You on the other hand havenever broken a law in your life...yeah right! I bet you are more of a criminal than those people crossing the border. Yousee, whatever illegal actionsyou have done in the past have you have done for pleasure and stupidity. Those people crossing the border have done it for a purpose higher than simple pleasures. If you want to talk about immigration politics you better have walked in shoes other than your own comfortable shoes. Thanks to my criminal father, I hold a degree in Aeronautics, have served my country in the Air Force, have traveled around the world, and currently hold a respectable position. I don't know who you are orwho you think you are, but it sounds like you are just one of those people that listens to the news and automatically goes off to one end blindly. I can't believe how easily people like you forgetthe atrocities your proud racehas done in the past. I bet American Indians thought of your ancestors as criminals, huh?

This is NOT a simple round 'em up and send em home topic. I have been to the most squalid areas of Mexico's and built houses for families with no electricity, running water, breadwinner (often times a woman raising a family and kids by herself because husband died), car or any of the other luxuries we take for granted every day. After seeing that, and seeing that they have a 50 gallon barrel of water that they use for bathing, cooking and cleaning.. I don't question why some of them would pack up and venture across the border.

So who's fault is it that they do that? Maybe the government's. They expect people who have absolutely nothing to not cross an invisible line (no fence along most of the border) that separates them from the opportunity to live a million times better than they are? C'mon.. every one of us would do the same. Their own government has failed them, and our government is allowing them to sneak over here by not enforcing our laws.

As for this, "Oh we should feel sorry for their family and whatever if they get deported.." You obviously don't know how INS works. I have dealt with INS in my profession, and know that you have to break a pretty serious law (drug trafficking, felony assault, etc..) to get sent back. Granted they are willing to do jobs no one else will do, but they are also willing to smuggle drugs and shoot cops who try and stop them. They also drink and drive, and beat their wives just like our citizens. They are people just like us. Some of em good, some of em bad. We should not feel sorry for them, but instead try to see it from their viewpoint.

Personally, I found the video ironically humorous. Here's some guys looking to put food on the table, WILLING TO WORK, and they get jacked up by some prankster in a very funny fashion. I personally would rather see him cruise the slums for people sitting around, living off my dollar, with who knows how many babies from different daddies, with NO jobs, and ship them off to who knows where. Give the hard working Mexicans, who would die for a chance to be citizens their houses and let's get on with life.
You've said it perfectly.

If I saw this video doing the same thing to an American Citizen for some other "setup", I wouldn't find this funny.

I was offended at eveyone condeming the illegal immigrant and dehumanizing him.

They are people like you and I.

Wow Mud, I've always enjoyed your posts and your personality until that last one. Do you really think some American is now a plumber, construction worker, or some other blue collar job because 2000FXDWG has an aeronautics degree? "Sorry sir, we have no more rocket scientist positions available because of that fella o'er there.."
I really hope there was some humor in that post I missed. That's almost as bad as the ghetto folk sitting around on their asses blaming the white man for keeping em down. They are excuse makers, and nothing else.

The true colors of a person come out when they are told the truth. It's people like you that hinder this country's ability to become what it was meant to be.

Just for curiosity Mudd...is that you in that picture with the black FXR or FXD...it is ironic that you have a t-shirt with the face of what looks like an American Indian. Is that like a trophy or something?

Well Mr 2000, since want to assume things aboutme I will set the record straight.

I have been outside the US on many occasions. Been to Germany, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico. I do speak spanish although not fluently. I do think my race is the ultimate race, its called the human race and is to the best of my knowledge the only race going right now. If you know of another please feel free to enlighten all of us. A little about my background since you so wish to know.

I have a college degree in criminal justice. I spent 4 years in the US Army as 11B(thats light infantryman to you). I have served from 1998-2001. I was stationed at Ft Myer, VA. which is located in Washington DC adjacent to the Pentagon. I was there on 9/11 when the plane flew into the building. I spent the next 6 weeks or so digging through that rubble looking for human race remains. Also had to stand guard for 18 hours a day for a good 4 weeks after we were finished searching. We had to guard a pile of rubble to prevent people from sifting through the mess.

So Mr. 2000 it is very very poor of you to assume things about me of which you know nothing about. Have I committed a crime in my life you ask? Yes, I have. many of them, and each and every time I have been punished for it. The same way illegal aliens need to be punished for breaking the law. And yes you father was a criminal, I dont see how you can deny that. You seem to want to put yourself high on the hog but not face the facts as they are. Your father was lucky, but he still broke the law. I am not saying at all the way people live in Mexico is right, but because your life isn't how you like doesn't give you the right to break laws to better yourself. Or maybe you think it does since your father taught you that it is the way to do things. The law is the law, if you don't like it contact your local congressman and try and get it changed.
