Default Wont start, no electrics?

I have been having electrical gremlins for the past few months. In the past, would have electrical power, starter would crank but not start. I had my mechanic pull everything apart and check the connections. After he put it back together, it started but could not identify what the problem was.

Had a nice long ride last Sunday and also went out again on Tuesday night, no problems. This morning on Sat, switched the ignition on, no power, no lights on gauges or headlight. But the neutral (N) lights up. I checked the battery connection and fuses. The battery is about year old.

I will check the instrument panel and handlebar switch later for any pinched wires.

Any ideas? This is the 3rd time its happened, but at least this time its at home and did not leave me stranded.

Check (all) the battery connections.
Try replacing the starter relay.
I changed both relays last year.
Cheap enough.

Just a swag, have you jiggled the key in the ignition, sounds like some of the contacts in the ignition switch aren't contacting. The short time I spent in the P.I., I understand the humidity levels. May want to start applying water displacement on some of your switches.
