Never had any problems withmine ... and hope not to. One thing I dois make surethat the shield is sitting level when I clamp it on to keep the clamps from getting in a bind where they might break. Guess I've just been picky with mine after I read on here way back that folks were having problems.
I have broken three clamps. THE Dealer did replace them and said they had others that were broken. I should be able to take the windshield off anytime I want, Why buy it for that reason and can't because you don't want to break a clamp.

If I remember correctly the installation instructions stated to install the clamps to the windsield but not to tighten them up until clamped onto the fork tubes. Place the windshield at the desired location. (I use two plastic spacers that came from a hardwood floor installation kit). Next clamp the bottom clamp one side at a time. Then snug up all of the bolts. This will insure that the winshield or the clamps will not bind and break something from taking it off and on time after time.
I have had no problems with mine and it has been off and on alot.

I've had a quick detach on my 06 Street Bob for about six months. Had it off/on several times and hav'nt broken a clamp yet. I have had a problem with the rubber gaskets inside the clamp sticking to the forks and popping out when I remove it.
i agree you can take the windshield off. without takeing the clamps off.i do it all the time never no ploblem.i dont leave the windshield on when i wash it.
Have had mine for 6 months as well. Broken 1 clamp in that time. Dealer replaced it with no questions and it's been fine ever since. I always am real careful though not to "slam down" the clamps levers. Just kinda press them until them lock. Not sure if that makes any difference but maybe it makes me feel like I'm taking better care of it or something.
