Default 04 FXD Headlight

So I'm fiddling with the SG I picked up last weekend, looking at stuff to do to it and whatnot and I am not digging the Leave it to Beaver ball cap headlight cover. The cover conceals a large multi-pin plug and is attached to the top of the headlight. The cover mounts are also the only apparent means of mounting a headlight since there's no mounting hole on the triple clamp like on other bikes. I'm wondering what others with this configuration have done to replace their light.

I don't yet know what I want to replace it with, but I can't really select anything until I figure out a means of mounting it. I'm trying to avoid replacing the lower triple clamp.

Any insight appreciated.

Drill a hole in the bottom triple tree. Buy a headlight (2006+ dyna light). 2004-2007 sportster custom upper triple tree cover for upper tree. Total cost is around $100. I did the mod with my 2005.

Pm me if you need any other help.

See I hate that light too...I want to put a quarter fairing on but I am not sure if it will fit with the top mounted headlight, anyone know?

Thanks, man! I never considered drilling the bottom clamp, but it's smooth and there's plenty of real estate for it. I'm thinking I'll keep the top tree and use the stock headlight bolt holes for the speedo mount when I install my Wild-1 drag bars. The width is perfect and I can use chrome toilet line pipe from Home Depot as risers. I read about that somewhere here, but I can't remember who to give credit to.
