rejlaw,
I've owned both bikes and trust me, the Dyna is head and shoulders abovethe Sportster. I've got a soft spot in my heartforSportsters, but Dyna's arethe most versatile bike you can buy. You can bob 'em, chop 'em, bag 'em, and mold them intowhatever your heart desires. A used Dyna will also retain it'svalue far better than a new Sportster.
I actually bought a 05 FXDI new. Love the bike. Hit e-Bay. Find out what the market is doing with the sale prices. $10K if not modded with Stage 1 and pipes and maybe a seat might be a little high...I think the 07s with bigger motors are going to hurt prices on used bikes for a little while...until people get over the excitement anyway.
Having both in my carage I agree with the Dyna option. ALTHOUGH I feel soangry about the âgirls bikeâ image Sportsters have WITH OUT ANY REASON. At least the bigger ones (04 and later IMHO) are awesome bikes with stage one. Real motorcycles with out any nonsense!
Go with the dyna. You wouldn't regret a sportster purchase for the extra speed and nimble handling, but you'll be a lot happier if you plan on riding more than 1 hour at a time.
Even 10k for 2 yr old stocker sounds good. Like others mentioned, it's not even really broke in.
In July (before I knew the 07s were coming out..) I gave $12.5 for my 02 DWG with 5k miles on it.
Had some chrome, some Mustang seats and some V&H pipes, detachable shield, etc. Most of the mods I wanted. I live in Florida, I expect to pay big $.
well i have an 06' thats the new 6 six speed and EFI. Big Radius, PCIII, K&N high flow AC, Progressive 11" shocks. Lay down plate. I would sell it for 10,500. So no the 2005 with no mods for 10,700 is a crappy deal
