dyna low rider vs dyna super glide
Joe,
Most of my riding is two up. Would it be better to go with aftermarket rear shocks for a better ride? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

I can tell you that when you are holding a Progressive shock in your hand and compare it to the stock shock, there is no comparison! The Progressive is the way to go, IMHO....
ALOT of people ride 2 up on a Lowrider, so the stock length, 11.6 inches should be fine. I went with 11 inches, because I only ride solo, and I wanted a slammed rear end. A stock 2005 Superglide has 12.6 inch long springs, I'm not sure if the new ones are the same length or not. Just measure your shocks from mounting hole to mounting hole! If you want new ones, some places are VERY well priced! Jireh cycles sold me mine for under 200 bucks, with free shipping to my door.(go google them)I have the Progressive 412 Heavy Duty shocks. You can get them with chrome covers which hide the springs, for the old FL look if you want as well, and I believe you can also get them in black for the Street~Bob crowd.

The more I think about it....GET THE LOWRIDER!!!! and get it in BLACK, then you know you won't have any regrets. Forget about the price difference! If you think you won't spend any more on the bike, you're in for a real shock!
Joe
You have a better memory than I if you remember me posting that before.
I am perfectly happy with my superglide. In fact with the silver powder coated engine you don't have to worry about cleaning it so much. It doesn't show much dirt. Have gotten caught in the rain a few times and the only dirty place on it was the black paint. This is my first big bike so I wanted to start with a harley. Made a mistake and got the Harley low shocks instead of the progressive ones out of lack of wisdom on my part. I got the sundowner seat for a good ride for my wife but at 5'6" it hikes the seat for me plus it's wider . Thats why I talked about getting a spare lowrider seat when just me. I am going to have to do something about my bars though. The stock ones make me bend over a little too much. Figured I would try the mini-apes. When I first got on this board you coulda swore this was a street bob instead of dyna glide forum though. Thought about a tach setup but realized I don't really need a tach, just go by sound. Have a friend at work that has a lowrider and he says the speedo setup I have is more visible than on the tank. As far as raking the trees I can't afford that. Have two younguns in college right now.
There was already a post about levels of chrome. Lots of chrome - low rider. Some chrome - SGC. Blank pallette - Superglide.
And my wife really liked the Low Rider.
Chicks like the Lowrider better.........especially the really dumb blond ones withbig jugs when they ask "what's that" and you tell them "Harley Lowrider". They just smile....tell em "Why that's a Dyna Superglide"and the just walk away........that did it for me....I went with the Lowrider..
Tomorrow I am going to the dealer to change my order from a Superglide to a LowRider.
