good question..... i have been riding over 25 yrs and never had anything but stock on my bikes.... but the Dyna is ridden pretty hard so i want some thing good
Southeast custom cycles recommended the works black trackers. They said best bang for the buck. Around 600-700 and can be setup to your weight/style. I'm still looking too but that's the recommendation I got.
I paid about $600.00 for the streettrackers two years plus and still ride great.
They mount upside down and need about .015 side play so they don't stick.
not like the solid rubber mounted stock shock.
I machined mine for correct fit.
it's in the instructions.
They can be completely rebuilt when the get worn for peanuts compared to buying new. They have plenty of adjustment.
I ride solo and didn't need the quick adjust for two up, so they were a tad less expensive. transformed my ride.
If you're going to drop that kind of coin why wouldn't you just go ahead and call Howard at Motorcycle Metal and get top of the line shocks? They don't cost that much more but are light years ahead of those you mentioned. The infoprmation that Howard will give youis invaluable and worth the phone call by itself.
I have Howard's Ohlins on my Glide. What makes him different is that he custom builds his shocks, so you get the correct springs and damping to match your bike. He has several price points, for all pockets. Give him a call - life will never be the same!
I run progressive 970's, best 700.00 Ive ever spent. Driving over curbs / railroad tracks will put a smile on your face. bash them all you want. I love them
