Hey Everyone. I did a stupid thing. I was working on the bike... took the sundowner seat off.. and the battery cover off... and managed to lose both of those bolts.
Anyone know what size bolts I need for the seat and battery cover for a 2006 Dyna Super Glide Custom?
Which bolts are you talking about? The seat bolt can be bought pretty cheap at your local H-D shop, and I cant remember exactly what size bolt that was holding down the battery cover, but for some reson I was thinking it was a sheet metal type of screw that held it in place. You could give your local dealer a call and they could look up those parts for you and tell you what size you would need and then you might even be able to find them at your local hardware store. Sorry I wasnt more help though.
Your local dealer will have what you need, for a few bucks.
I am sure you aren't the only one that has lost a few screws/bolts.
They have gotten used to me losing stuff, and give me free screws from time to time.
Now the first screw they gave me cost about $14,000. LOL
Doubt the battery cover would ever go anywhere even if you never replaced the bolt. Just wire tie it in place til you get a new bolt if you're worried about it.
Same thing with the seat just whittle yourself a plug out of a piece of wood and jamb it in place til you get to the shop,it wont go anywhere.
Nextly, get yourself a bolt bucket and throw every nut, bolt, screw and washerin it that you ever thought you'd never need again. It'll come in handy.
The seat bolt is either a course or fine thread, they used both. Mine is a 2002 Dyna and uses a 1/4-20UNC x 3/4". The Battery bolt that holds the battery box to the frame is a 5/16UNC-18 x 1/2" and the jack bolt is 5/16UNC-18 x 1-1/4".
