Default VRod vs Dyna talk

I am also getting the FM 107, but have no intentions of racing a VRod. I do not like to get embarrassed. HD did not design the dyna or softail to race. They did design the VRod to race. I have a pretty quick Saleen Mustang, handles exceptionally well and was designed to do just that. I would not challenge a Z- modeled Corvette in a drag race for the same reason.....do not like being embarrassed. The dyna is a great for what it was designed for .....cruising. With the 107, I will be able to cruise a little faster than my buddies and it should sound really awesome. That is why I am spending the money with FM.

I have no intentions of drag racing one either, I was just wondering what it is going to feel like.It doesn't really make sense to me though my power to weight ratio will be higher ,but the bike slower, whatever.I'm sure I'll be happy with it either way.

I live in a very isolated area and there are lots of bikes around my parts. Lots of HD's but they just thumb around taking it easy. There are the m109r and VTX1800's around to that like to play. We have track day 2 or 3 times a year, free track time and swap meets. Got one coming up, March 31
My wife has a 2010 WG with SS106. Vtx1800 are nothing to pass, the 109r is rather easy to. I passed a 109 running around 70, not a power jump with sling just passed. he came on behind me so I let it go. I shut down at 120+ and coasted back to 55. it took him close to 1/4 mile to catch me.
Smoked a 500hp Mustang up to 120.
The point I am trying to make is this: If you have not done it it is simply guessing.
Her bike is fast. 60-80 roll on in fifth 2.8 seconds. Wheelies are way too easy on it.
I have never tangled with a V-Rod but I have with my VTX1800. Red light to red light it was really close, there is no doubt it will out run the VTX, how much I don't know.
I raced from 1964 to 1968 (ducati) and 1970 to 1974 (Kawasaki) professionally. I am one hard dude to beat off the line. Got hurt in 1974 pretty bad. Quite racing but still like to play and hit the track some times.
I have rode a V-Rod and they are really strong once the R's get up. that is what hurts them.
Who really knows, I don't

this **** cracks me up. I've dyno tuned many, ridden hundreds. From 90hp stockers to 160hp destroyers and everything in between. Ridden some quick ones but never been like omgz! FAstest bike evar!!! It is what it is. It's not built to race, its built to look at. The power is very peaky, you need torque to move a 600lb bike. It's like riding a 600 sport bike, a whole lot of waiting for it to come on, then nothing too exciting when it finally does. They're heavy, the gearing sucks *** and they don't hook up for ****. Why do You think the destroyer needs a big slick to hook 160hp? I go 1.40 60fts with 240hp 150ft lbs a 190 street tire and no wheelie bar. Don't let that 240 tire on the v rod fool you, that's just to make up for The little pee pee, they spin for days. I've ridden plenty of 100+ hp v rods that I'd run on my 100/100 dyna for big money if given the chance. Hell I've ridden baggers That would rape them. Sorry v rod fan boys they're not all they're cracked up to be. But what do I know? I've never ridden anything fast!

And what are you riding to do that? Will it hang with a vrod at triple digit speeds for as long as you can find the road to run it that hard?

Vrods like what, 74ci. Who's got the little pee pee?

If my old vrod wasn't so uncomfortable on long rides I'd still have it, little pee pee and all!

It's a busa that goes 8.60s @ 160. It will do unthinkable things to a v rod at any speed. That wasn't my point though. If the v rod was such a drag bike it shouldn't need a slick to hook 160hp. Still not really the point, I was just venting.
What else is a 240 tire good for?

I don't know, you'll have to ask the chopper crowd. My vrod had a 180 tire, more than enough.

Nothing I own has anything on it that doesn't make it faster or work better. It's built for a purpose other than "look at me". I Like going fast, a v rod simply doesn't do that.

Agree on that, those are the only ones I don't mind. Street rods and the first night rods are actually kinda fun to ride.

My god people don't get all bent out of shape over this subject! I don't think anybody on here is comparing a v rod to a freakin busa!..lol at least I sure as hell wasn't! But it deff faster then most other cruisers! The orig post was comparing too a air cooled dyna!
