First harley
So I just got my first harley delivered today it a 2011 wide glide in Sodna orange. I wanted to go with the 103 motor but decided against it because I saw this one used and LOVED the color. I'm not goning to race the bike so the mild engine difference didnt make a difference to me. I've road metric cruisers for about 6 years and I'm happy to say I've finally joined the Harley family. One thing that really sucked though was how quiet the stock pipes were I was kind of sadly disappointed when compared to my yahmaha. I rode it for a while but almost felt ashamed to ride it knowing how much quieter this bike is than my last one. So jumped the gun and ordered some Vance and Hines pipes, and a high flow intake. I love doing my own work but as it seems this bike has no carbs
so through reading a lot of this fourm it seems I can get it close with a map download but to get it right on the money I have to take the beating from the dealer. My dealer is running a special right now on tuner+ dyno for 600 bucks which doesn't sound that awful after reading how much some have had to pay. I know a map will get it close however I really do some serious riding for example I had over 30k miles on my last bike and I was gone for 2 out of the five years in Iraq. So I really want this bike to run perfectly. I m doing my reading on this site and am finding out some great information. I do have a couple of questions if anyone could help me out
1) cruise control I noticed the bike has a throttle lock however it doesn't look safe enough for me to fiddle with while on the interstate any advice?
2) is there a reserve tank?
3) what's better the stock crush gaskit for exhaust or the aftermarket (I think there rubber) ones?
4) why the heck is the tank so hard to take off haha?
Anyways I just thought I'd throw out my first post and say hello any advice would be greatly helpful.thanks

Welcome to the Harley family! I don't think any EFI bikes have a reserve tank. I'm no expert and could be wrong but I thought that was just carbed bikes.
As for your other questions, I can't answer them, but if you can't find the answers by searching, the forum is loaded with very knowledgeable and helpful people.
Congrats on your first Harley!

Congrads! Sounds like an nice bike. Buying used is a better value. I'm on my first harley as well.
1. Yeah, there is a little star looking throttle lock, never used it myself, but shouldn't be hard to do.
2. Only carbed bikes have a reserve, FI have a fuel low light.
3. When i replaced my exhaust, Rinehart recommends "James"-style gaskets. They are flat and not beveled like the stock ones. The HD Screamin Eagle gaskets are the same as "James". I went with the SE gaskets from the dealer. I recommend them.
4. What about the tank is hard to remove? My bike is older but it only has a bolt on the back and a bolt on the front. I've taken it off a couple times.
Enjoy it!

Welcome to the family! What V&H pipes did you get? I just did the V&H Pro Pipe, VO2 Naked air cleaner and went with their FuelPak. IF your planning on leaving the motor stock, or maybe cams in the future, I can say, get the FuelPak and skip the dyno tune and save yourself about $300 bucks.
I did the same as you. Found a 2011 Sedona Orange. I could have got the 2012 with a 103, but the extras that were on my bike and color is what I wanted. to put 103 cylinders on would be cheaper at around $600 if I decide to do that in the future.

I'm waiting on the Manuel to come in I ordered it off the Internet. There are two bolts on there but there's a cross over rubber pipe that connects both sides of the tank. It has crimped brackets which I could just replace with screw one but there's also a but more wiring than I'm used to. I'm putting on speakers so I just lifted the tank up enough for now to run the wires. When the manual comes in I'm sure that part is explained. Just didnt want to go cutting off new stuff when I wasn't sure what I was doing.
