Those bumps are no longer a problem and I have a much better control of the bike.
I would think this should be your priority because if you're not comfortable on the bike the tail light won't be good for anything except looking at it in the garage.
Thanks, I will check out the Ohlins. Changing out the tail light is purely for appearance, my priority is getting the suspension upgraded so that it's more comfortable to ride, therefor safer.

Thanks, it came a little sooner than I had hoped but that's just how things work out.

Hey AussieYX, Thanks for serving!
Im running progressive 970's and the ride is awesome!
While pulling out of this tight parking lot one day I missed the curb cut and drove right over a curb. When I felt the bump I thought WTF? I looked back and couldn't believe I just drove off the curb... No bottoming out, no jarring, I couldn't believe how smooth it was. I was still smiling when I got home. You can run over railroad crossings and not even have to think about standing up on the pegs. You can pick a pair up for around 700.00. To me their worth every penny.

For your back, and butt I highly recommend a deep bucket seat. I'm running a mustang touring wide vintage solo w/ backrest and cant imagine a more comfortable seat. The seat I had before it was a sundowner, its was also pretty comfortable (and less expensive) but doesn't look nearly as nice but it sets you farther forward and higher.

Im sure everyone has their own opinion but I guarantee you wont go wrong with this combo

Well here's the thing......I've been behind my bike and while the tail light might seem Unimpressive when combined with the turn signals they are plenty bright and crisp, and while small and unimpressive they capture the look and feel of the old school bobber without compromising brightness and intensity. From the back they really do look as they should. It was the look at dusk from behind that caused me to reconsider the mod your considering, and I opted to leave them as is along with the front signals. I like the uncluttered look of the forks minus the signal. Truly a bobber look. Progressives web site has the new "9"series shocks that should provide the bike with a Truly superb ride, I'll be making that switch soon. Leaving the rear and front lights alone can free you up to do your build. I went with a 108 build and I'm getting great performance and numbers. I stopped sweating the lights though, just too much damn money for something that should be an easy mod. But it's not cheap, new tins or body work either way is throwing money at it and for why. Unless you really have to have a clen rear fender I'd say think it over.

Congrats on your retirement....regardless of the choice I can't wait to hear and see what you end up with. Dont get me wrong....clean and neat is great but was not worth the cost. My bob looks great in that respect in terms of what they were trying to accomplish. It's a bobber eh.

I don't understand all the hatred for the 'Sparto' tail lamp ... it is vintage chopper/bobber from way back ... oh well ... whatever ...

Several years before they were introduced on the Street Bob, I had been contemplating going with one ... ended up going in a different direction ...

Congrats on your retirement ... I've got 16 yrs time in service ... few more to go ...

Good luck figuring out your upgrades ... I'd say tackle the suspension first ... then go from there ...

Thanks guys, I will def check out progressive shocks. The seat i have now is pretty comfortable (C&C fastback), I find it good because it has a larger area then solo seats so i can lean back and stretch my back out when needed.
I actually like the style of the turn signals, but I can't stand the tail light. One look I really like is the tail light about the side mounted license plate, I've seen them on Licks for about $60 give or take. Not sure how it would work seeing I already have the Kuryukan (how ever its spelled) side mounted vertical license plate holder.

Check out The Powder Pro, they can fill your fender and powder coat it to match denim black.

Also Southeast Custom Cycles does this, and paints to match.

Or do what I would do, and hunt down a full fender from an FXDC or Older Street Bob, I think they look much better
