Getting ready to put some new Commanders on my Dyna. I don't see any balancing marks on these tires like I did on my Dunlop's. Are they so well balanced from factory they don't have to mark them?
Got my answer form Mitchelin;
Thank you for your interest about the marking on our tires.
We have reviewed your concern about the marking on our Michelin motorcycle tires. We build tires with very precise specification and quality standards.
We do not mark tires with dots or any type of marking for aligning the tire for the wheel and balancing because it is not really necessary.
However, we respect the rotation in terms of rotating directional tires and we do recommend to balance the tire and wheel assembly.
We appreciate your business, Gary and thank you for choosing Michelin.
I hear good things about these tires, supposedly 24k on a single tire. Keep us posted as to how many You get out of them, if it's half of what they advertises I will be all over that when I need new tires.
Now is that for a 180 tire or 200 or 240 tire? cause I was just talking to a guy at my harley dealer and he was saying the more contact patch touching the ground the faster it will wear. what size tires are you guys getting these miles on?
I have Commander II's on both wheels of the Dyna. They were balanced when installed , tiny weights F and R. The wheels were probably more unbalanced than the tires.
I'm at a little over 10,000 miles on them. The front still looks almost brand new, and the rear has at least 10,000+ miles left on it. I got 11,000 miles out of the Dunlap/HD factory tires, the rear was close to slick and the front weathercracked. I bought the Dyna Oct. 2011 with 1400 miles on it, so it had been sitting a lot, the tires were probably dried out when replaced May 2012.
The C-II's ride smoother, grip good, and best of all, don't follow those tar snakes and pavement cracks.
I have them on my '06 FXDi35. I believe they will last a long time. I only have about 1000 miles on them, but they are made from a very hard rubber. I can "feel" every little imperfection in the road with these. No problems with handling, wet or dry.
One thing I noticed when I first got them, the bike seems to easily fall into turns much better than with the stock dunlops. I also feel like they don't follow the cracks in the road as much as the dunlops.

This may be due to the new tires being round rather than wore down with a flat center.
