Ape Hanger Question
For those of you who have changed your bars on a Street Bob, At what height do you need to change cables and wiring??
I am going to buy the 14" Nash Gimp Hangers, and was wondering if I would have enough slack to keep my stock cables and wires??
Thanks in Advance

There are many on here that have gone with taller apes. I am going with 14.5" cyclesmith bars. I ordered +6 throttle/idle/clutch/brake cables. You won't get away with the stock cables when you go to 14s for sure. You will more than likely have to extend the wiring also. I ordered the novello kit from jp cycles. You have to pull wires out of deutsch connectors and then extend and then plug back into connector. No splices and no soldering of wires. I think some have gone to 12s without extending wires, but you may want to go to 16s or 18s down the road and it would be good to have a few extra inches for later. It is also a good time to move front turn signals to forks or the like. (less wires to run back through bars) Good luck to ya.
I just did 12.5 chubbys, I had to do wires and plus 4" on all cables and brake line. The wireing is easy on the Street bob, I did buy the new switch kit and it made life real easy. Good Luck, Rember to chk the widith of the new bars first before ya order cables. I Installed the bars first and measured for fit. My local dealer stocks up to 8" over on all Braided cables and brake lines. So I didnt have to waitfor any shipping. Trotter
Yes, what they said. I only went +2" on my risers and had to change everything but the wiring, which is not pretty tight. The 14" you want is 3.5" over, so you'll have to change wires, cables, and brake line.
I put the 16 inch gimps on mine, i put +6 for all cables, i think they all should have been +5 for a perfect fit. If you want a nice tight clean look then i wouldnt go with +6 for 14 inch gimps, +4 will be perfect. Also i didnt have to extend my wiring at all, there is plenty in there.
