Ya, its so nice to have a place to put stuff. One of the main reasons we got her the FLD is because she just got out of the USAF and is going back to school. She loves riding her bike to school but was struggling with all the books. Don't think we'll be using the windshield too much, I rode home with it on and was getting a lot of buffeting.

I have the quick detach windshield for my bob, I've gotten some buffeting at certain speeds with the windshield at a certain height. Maybe you can mess with it on hers--but I'm unaware as to how it connects and if you have many options. I think it looks better without, however.
The Switchback is a very versatile bike. Even though the bike is a "convertible", I never ride with the bags off. I also rarely ride with the windshield on. BBP is the 2nd best color on a Switchback
