Default rusty rim blues

all right. is it just me or does the chrome on the factory rims really suck. my junk is 10 months old and the rims are rusty as hell. mabey i just don't clean them enough? rode my junk in the rain the other day and came out mabey 2 days later into my garage and the amount of rust was just ridiculous. in the past i've seen a little and i was able to polish most of it out leaving a little dark pit/black spot but its just getting ridiculous now. what are you guys using to stop the rust on your rims and keep them clean?

I am not sure if this will help you or not, but I powder coated mine to get rid of this possible problem. Just an idea, not sure if it is what you are looking for.

clean with devr-dull. It has a cleaning/polishing oil that will make them shine like new, and the oil residue left after you buff them inhibits rust!

I use it regularly! If that don't work buff with a rag lightly damp with WD-40, then buff with a dry rag. Also inhibits rust

I've heard this complaint before...mine are perfect...as good as the day I brought them home (or at least the front one is...sold the rear one)...I'm not sure why some have this problem...perhaps it's the type of weather you have...is it stored in the garage?....are you near the ocean? Lots of factors I guess. What I can say about mine is, I never ride in the rain....it's always in a garage (except when I'm riding)...and I always clean them after ever ride...I just use some of that all purpose cleaner/polish from HD....spray on/wipe off. Like I said...good as new after a year and a half.
I second the never-dull recommendation. That's great stuff...especially for metals that have a little bit of wear, rust, or dulling.
