Nice ride man, I'm glad to hear you got her runnin. Hope they let you sit out all your dwell time. Hopefully the tempo has dropped enough now for you to enjoy the bike some.
I got medically retired in 2009- been doing the civilian contractor thing (used to be pretty steady work and a good paycheck, but that has gone to hell as of late)
Right now I am "A valued member of the Obama administration" (collecting unemployment). Hoping to find something here pretty soon though- but definitely enjoying the being-back-where-no-one-lobs-rockets-at-me thing.
Need to head south and Irritate the sh#t outta Mud one weekend lol

it encompasses pretty much everything I hate about deployments
too many people in too small a space
too many "under utilized" senior leadership (this is what they pay you to do... really?!!!)
WAY too many tcn's on the post (is it the United States or India at war here?)
and most of all F@CKING COLD!
rant concluded lol.
I never did get to Jbad- wanted to though (warm). I preferred to stick with smaller fobs and cobs- yeah, you got shot at more, but in my mind it was worth the trade off to know damn near everyone on post on a first name basis, and get to know who you had operating your equipment. Made life MUCH easier when instead of just a job packet, you had SSG Snuffy showing you what the problem was.
This was my first time at the larger bases. I've mostly been at firebases. My first 3 deployments were to the same place, Firebase Tycz in Oruzgan. I agree with what you said about the TCNs. It is crazy. I'm not sure some of them have jobs. And spot on about the leadership in some of those units. Our senior leadership was pretty good. I'm not even going to start ranting about that place. It'll just **** me off...lol....BTW great looking ride....I've got an 03 FXDWG too...they are great machines

Thanks bro, It has been more or less reliable (more before I started modifying it, less afterwards lol). Right now I have it tuned to "not-self-destruct-so-I-can-see-what-new-leaks-pop-up-mode" (pulled almost all of the timing out of it) and it still has spooked me a couple times. If my sportster is a well trained barrel racer, the dyna is a female saddle bronc with PMS... But damn do I love her
