It seems to be a major issue, which makes me ask...if you thought it had "waaaay too much" chrome on it, why did you buy it? And I don't believe that you "absolutely love" it either.

Powder coat is the best method for larger stuff.
High temp engine paint or rattle can truck bed liner works great for small stuff. The truck bed liner is really tough stuff and sticks to chrome very well. It's $8 a can at Lowes or Home Depot.

I like how your bike looks, but if I were taking it to the dark side, here's where i would start.
Signals
Fender struts.
Shocks
Pipe (Talk to Joe at powder pro, much cheaper than new pipes.)
AC
Derby
Timer cover

You could have most of that stuff painted at home in an afternoon to avoid downtime.

Could put on some black spoke covers or powder coat you spokes black that would take care of some of the chrome on the wheels. Or powder coat your wheels (rims) black.
Yea,those spoke straws kill me! The crazy thing is they work! Haha! Tell yea what though, the next bike show I'm going to be lookin for em! (I'm weird that way)

Like mentioned previously most all lot of stuff you can paint yourself at home. I've just started using plate-dip on small parts here and there. What I love is I can paint the parts in place and any over spray or if you don't like what you painted comes right off.

I have replaced some parts with chrome so I have a black battery cover if you need one. I'll send it to you cheap if you want it just pm me.

Touche' good sir. Well I bought it because it was a great deal, and too much chrome is a relatively small deal, but I do absolutely love the bike, but not all the chrome...lol

I'd start off with Plasti-dipping the fork lowers (after removing the reflectors). After a little practice you'll get it down to a T and move on to the battery box, rear lights, horn cover and rear struts (although they might be a little tricky). Easy and cheap fix!!!
Here's a few pics of mine whilst attempting the Plasti-dip technique.....

Cool

Is your horn cover chrome?
Mine is wrinkle black. I'll trade you.

Also the cover on the same side as the horn opposite of the battery cover just below the seat.
That one is wrinkle black on my bike too.
