Only issue I've had with mine was the engine loosing power and spurting a little recently, turned out to just be the clutch needing adjusting and a gasket replaced.
Other than that mine's been running like a champ.
Edit: there have also been occasional issues with the fender cracking due to the tail light (just another reason to loose the limp dick)
Rear fender cracking is a major design flaw with 2009-2012 Street Bobs. Mine is cracked all the way up both sides of the tail light. I noticed the crack(s) starting around 12,000 miles, now it's at a little over 18k and I need to replace it before it gets any worse.
Worst fender/tail light/license plate design EVER! I will not be replacing it with the same thing.
I have had issues with something draining my battery.. I got a new battery a moth ago when I was having this issue and now it's happening again.. Anyone have any input?
I love my bike, only issue was the cracked fender and HD replaced under warranty with the new rubber mounted bracket underneath.Stage 1 with the seprt and runs fantastic very happy with my bike.
No major issues with mine, except for some reason the rear turn indicators keep burning out, and the heat from the bulbs has melted the covers. Harley has fixed this three times in almost 2 years, at 15K they replaced the lenses no charge.
I had an '11, wish I hadn't sold it. No problems what so ever. I am one of probably three people on the planet who actually likes the tail light. And I just don't care for side mounted tags. Be prepared - some people will tell you they like your Sporty!
The 96 is plenty of motor but I didn't use 6th gear all that much.
