well, happy birthday to me!
wifey got me a set of 11" progressive 412's [black of course]
but, to my dismay
i think she may have gotten the wrong part #
these are #412-4005 and i know the # for my '06 bob is different on progressive's site...
anyone know if they'll still work?
could they be THAT different?
b.t.w. i'm pretty sure she got 'em off ebay...so not sure about the return policy....[american classic motors]
any ideas?
Sorry to say it mike but i just checked the progressive web site and it looks like your shocks are for 11 inch 412s for an 883 sportster part #412-4005
Don't know for sure, but the owner of a local parts dealership that I do business with tells me they are all different. Progressive supposedly setsup eachmodel different depending on the shock angle. My own suspicion tells me that the difference is probably minimal. Personally, I would sayif they bolt up fine use them.
I'v been looking at these shocks on ebay also. I asked this forum a few months ago if they will fit a Dyna and the reply I got is they would. I havn't bought them yet so I don't know. American Classic Motors seems to be a good co., they would probably return them. Try them out first, they may work just fine. And lets us know either way, I'm still thinking about picking some up.
Mike if they wont return them let me know . I just bought a 2005 883 for my son and thats the first thing he wants to do . I was gonna order a set this weekend, I'll wait to hear from you. I'll buy them from you and you can order the right shocks. I would get the right shocks. Chk with Matt at Phat performance 175.00 to your door. His warehouse is in Penn. so mine took 2 days. If this helps you out.I have had these shocks 11" 412's on every bike I've had you wont regret it. I'm 190 lbs and use the 11" 412's heavy dutynever bottomed out on # 2 # 3 for 2 up no problems

Well, they are 11" so I'm sure they willbolt on but the spring rate and damping rate are most likely wrong due to the weight difference of a Sporty and Dyna.
That front end really looksHorrible on your Bike, I think you should send it to me so my bike will look that bad, Just thought I'd offer you the favor. I'd even pay the shipping. LOL Trotter

The same shock, 412-4005,is the correct one for FXR's.
The 11.5" version, 412-4006, is correct for Sportster, FXR and FLH, so don'tbelieve weight is an issue.
I would still use the right ones though, even if they will bolt on.
well, emailed american classic motors...got a reply from someone[didnt leave a name] but stated they'd be glad to help me out...and asked the model of bike the shocks were going on...
i replied w/ the info['06 bob], and he told me the shocks i have will work perfectly on my bike...
however..looking at the shocks, the eyelets are visably more narrow[thickness-not diameter]
and the bottom eyelet is offset....is this normal? do you folks with 11" progressives have an offset in the bottom eyelet? and what do your eyelets measure?[thickness]
thanks for all the replies...with your help we'll get this sorted out....
