I too went from a crotch rocket to the Bob. It was costing me too much $ in fines! At first it was nice, calm, and living the dream. Once you start adding and modding and adding and modding (same amount of $ as fines!) the bike goes faster, you go faster and then back to where you started.

It is a frame of mind and no matter how old we get, deep down there is still that need for speed!

Bikes are like Barbie Dolls for grown men. They are fun to accessorize and individualize with paint, chrome or whatever else, including speed parts. Riding is only part of the fun.

I don't care if I can go fast, but I care that I can go faster then the next guy.

So you did all those mods to make it slower??? Some chrome goodies and a set of Khrome Werks slipons for sound and I'm happy as can be! Damned thing will make my ears bleed as it is!

I am a ole fogy you might say.
When I was younger I had more stamina than brains. You know, young and dumb.
Although I never had the craving for a crotch rocket, could not handle the bending, I did have a few rather fast bikes. I also went to a HD, raised on em, to slow me down.
I was never into the top speed thing all that much but loved to drag race, Professional racer for 8 years. Got hurt so I stopped racing.
That was 35 years ago. I still like the arm pulling power from a good bike.
I am not into street racing, but I do like to crank it some at times.
I enjoy doing things to my bikes almost as much as riding them. Why do we do this, it is in our blood. That is what we do.
Hd's are not designed for high speed running although they some are capable of it.

I have to agree with the statement that I bought m Harley to slow me down. That being said, I have a couple of other scooters in the stable that I can't seem to get rid of - 1974 Z1 (had since new) and a 2002 1200 bandit also since new. During my winter project of putting fatbob trees on my 2001 fxd I had some down time and took the bandit for a spin. You can't beat the thrill of a sub 12 second bike - but man can you get hurt fast.

Anyway I can't wait to finish up the front end on my fxd so I can be normal again

I think this thread can be answered in very few words......Faster=More Fun its as simple as that. Riding is fun in it self but getting from 0-60 faster than your bike could before makes riding even more fun. End of thread
