I will admit, the total price ended up being just over $600. But that was after it was on the dyno, we noticed a slight clutch slip. So for the extra $110, he put an SE clutch spring, gear lube and 4 more pulls to touch up the tune.
Quite high IMO. I had Firebreathing install mine, do the SEPRT, Dyno tune, install a 30T and a new set of Bassani RR II and the total was about $1600.
They have been refered by several members and at least 2 HD dealers.

Doing the cams yourself is not hard at all. I'm no genius mechanic but I am literate and followed the service manual to the letter. I've never had one issue related to that.
When my bike was under warranty, I inquired about cams. The service mgr told me that even if he used SE cams (which are harley parts) and a problem occurred that could be traced back to the cams...it would void the warranty.
That's when I decided to do it myself. Plus the labor was through the roof. Just couldn't afford it at the time. That swap cost me ~$600 including the cams, which I bought used with 3k mi on them ($200) and the dyno tune ($250). Misc gaskets, o-rings, oil, filter, etc made up the difference.
That seems pretty high to me, i am a mechanic at a harley dealer and i dont think we have ever charged that much just for cams, on a new bike that you dont have to press the cams in and out, 3-4 hours labor plus parts
I would love to collect 1500 plus dollars to install cams in a Harley engine! I would do one cam and big bore install a week, and pay cash for a house in 12 months!
The price people pay to have engine components installed on a pushrod air cooled engine blows my mind. For 1500 bux you can buy ALL of the specialized tools to make the job fun and easy. Invite over some buddies, have someone man the radio, the grill, and have fun wrenching.

Valley racing! they do all our tuning work... best in the game if you ask me!
There isn't a lot you can screw up doing cams and the warranty is probably already void due to the V&H pipes so go with your neighbour if you trust him 100%.
If the pipes were installed incorrectly and no changes made in fuel delivery for new pipes akd something blew then yes, warranty would not cover damage. But a set of stage 1 equipment cannot by itself void a warranty. Internal mods to engine sure, but external and properly installed should not do it.
I just had a local Indy do the hydro cam chain tensioner/oil pump upgrade with S&S 509 cams on my 02 Lowrider. Parts, labor and dyno tune came to just over $1600.00. I didn't even check with our local dealer as I knew it would be alot more than that. Good luck!
