Default headlight
I have had issues with the poor lighting ability of hd headlights for some time. I have tried after market headlight assemblies from kyriakan and still it seems the object is more for ascetics than functionality. I am looking for a sealed beam unit that will install in the same OEM housing. She is getting old being a 2000 FXD. But she still rides great. I am looking for a sealed beam unit with better light condensing if that makes since. Riding western Kansas back roads I realized I needed more light on the road.

any suggestions?

There are many $100+ upgrades out there. I have always installed a Sylvania Ultra lamp on my bikes. They are brighter and wider and a big improvement over stock bulbs. There reliability has been fine, no failures. About $12 at "Wally"

I've heard good things about the sylvania silverstar ultra 9003/HB2. Save 20 bucks on a 2pk at eBay

I have a pair of clear fog lights mounted on the crashbar that work well for augmenting the headlamp.

HID in the stock lamp is what you need.

Yep, get an HID setup. I installed one on mine and its seriously bright. Lights up street signs during the day. Cost 40 shipped, and I added an e code reflector.
