Had to lay the FXDX down last night.
Went right and was doing pretty good at first then realized I was gonna go into a ditch. Ive ridden this bike "off road" a little and figured I would be ok and able to pull back on the street.
My luck ran out when I came upon a couple of deep ruts in the ditch. It was then I decided to take my chance and lay it down in the sand. I figured if I hit the ruts I was gonna get thrown from the bike and wouldnt have any control over getting off of it.
Overall I came out of it in decent shape. Banged my left forearm on the edge of the street and gave myself a nice case of road rash and by ribs are sore as hell today.
The only damage to the bike was a broken clutch lever, lost the end cap to my left grip, cracked my Ness Fairing and the handle bars were a little "off".

Picked the bike up, fixed the handle bars on the spot and road it home.
She started fine this morning and seems to be in good shape other than what is broke.
Anyone have any suggestions on anything I should check on the bike to make sure everything is good to go?
EDITED TO ADD:
I gotta give my saddle bags a little credit. After checking the bike out today it looks like my left bag kept the bike off the ground and off my leg.

Pulled the fairing off and will adjust the bars tomorrow and check out the bushing to see if I do need to replace them.
thanks
Sounds like you'll be back up in no time. Good for you.
Stay lucky...

Because they are so busy paying attention to everything other than the road that they never knew a motorcycle was on the same road as they were.
