i recently ditched my thunderheader and installed a supertrapp supermeg. i continued to use the custom tune loaded onto my power commander v, which was created on a dyno at an indie shop. it ran fine, if a little rich.
suddenly, the bike won't rev past 5k rpm, and starts getting really rough around 4,800. this was way below the stock rev limiter. it would previously hit 65k using the rev xtend feature. it seems to run fine up until that point.
i called dynojet today. i updated my firmware, reloaded the map with rev xtend enabled, changed the plugs, checked the oil, and checked for exhaust leaks, all to no avail. any ideas?
Check your throttle position on the pc-v! get the bike warmed up, you need to hook up a computer to the pc-v. select power commander tools-> calibrate->throttle position with the throttle off turn ignition on and run switch on, click reset. open throttle fully and release, click ok, your done. It may work. All the info you need is in http://www.powercommander.com/powerc..._PC5.1.19.html can be done with engine running or not as long as you turn on the ign. and run
I always thought that the PCV tricked the ECM to rev to 6200 and the tach still showed that it only rev'd to 5200.
I have the stage1 download and the PCV and when I activated the Rev Extend my tach only showed 5200 but it was still going to 6200 in my Innovate Technologies LM2 Data Logger. I kept bouncing off the rev limiter trying to get to 6200 or at least the tach to 6200. It doesn't take much time from 5200 to 6200
I've seen that happen with a broken valve spring. If your reving to 6500 often and your springs aren't up to the task, it's something to consider. If the inner spring is broke, the outer spring keeps things in check until you hit about 4.5-5k then it'll start sputtering (floating) like it hit the limiter.
looks like it was the power commander. the bike runs fine stock. i spent some time on the phone with dynojet the other day. after some attempted troubleshooting, they requested that i send it back to them. i'll update with anything further.
