Id recommend getting a fuel tuner and intake when you get you pipes. For 90% of us, its all youll need.
Welcome to the fatbob club. They are one of the best motorcyles hd has ever produced!
Im going to just throw the exhaust on first and ride it for a bit that way. Then Ill get the intake and tuner once my right knee gets used to the funky position.
You should consider the screamin eagle heavy breather style intake whenever you decide to take the plunge. Helps build torque, and moves the intake out of your right knees way. I'm used to it, as I have the vance and hines vo2 intake with stock air cleaner cover on it.... but I'm thinking about makeing the heavy breather my final intake system.
Yeah, most definitely. Im a research type of guy so I really like to know what Im getting into before I do it. That being said, apparently this was more impuslive than anything.
I look forward to a lot of good input on this bike.
If these other guys did their "research" they too would have Fat Bobs.. Congrats on the new scoot.

Yeah, thats what I'm considering. I really like the look of that thing poking out the front.
Side question, is there a difference in power or sound between a 2-1 or 2-2 exhaust? At first I was digging the look of 2-1 but now as I go through photos Im thinking the look I want is the 2-2 V&H big radius.
Took a ride on Sunday and really liked the bike. I was never really an HD kind of guy but as I got older, I wanted to slow things down a bit. Im not the type to want to get a knee down in turns so I moved away from the sport bikes. I still like corner carving a bit so I've kept the Duati Diavel in the garage. That bike just wasn't the longer distance type cruiser I was looking for though.
So I went with the denim black. Should be here next week. I already have V&H exhaust picked out for it. Debating on just running it with that for a while or do a breather/tune as well and just call it a day.
Anyway, looking to build a nice family here. So far I've found a wealth of information.
Exactly what I have. Mine is a 2012 Denim Black Fat Bob.
I began with a Stage 1 and V&H Short Shot Staggereds. They sound awesome although even with a standard tune you will have decel pop.
Do a search on my login HYPR and you will see what I did with mine engine wise.
I came from th knee dragging crowd as well and was looking for similar to the same direction you are. As far as engine mods I went with a set of Bassani Road Rage II, Dave Mackie 575L cams, SEPRT, and 30T pulley. I love the way the bike runs and sounds. I also added the True Track and a set of Ricor shocks.

Awesome stuff! So you changed your exhaust from the V&H to the Bassani? Ive seen that exhaust around here more and more. What's better about it? Ive read the customer service leaves a little to be desired. Whats a SEPRT? Also, Ive read about that true track thing too, does that make a noticable difference right away? Is it like putting stiffer sway bars on a street car?
Well, I am short a little information. Is the bike brand new? I would not go changing up the functioning of the bike before I broke it in or before I understood the impact on my warranty.
When I switched to the race tuner, exhaust, and new air breather (plus tuning) it made my bike alot better in a number of ways, but I also believe it voided my warranty. On some of my other rides, I will wait the couple of warranty years before making the changes. Others might have more information on this. Some say it has to stay harley parts but I could understand if you alter the working style of the engine that it might impact your warranty.
Welcome to the family and good luck. Black denim is the best!
