did the SERT, SE IIs and SE AC on my '06 Dyna. made all the world of difference. Eastern Performance, Zannoti's and even e-bay for some good prices. If i had to do it over again however, I would get the AN Big Sucker. Liked it a bit better on my UC.
I never said that the PC was better I said it was cheaper and easier. All that any of these products are is a ox a chipset and a line of codes controling the ECM air/feul ratio depending on a number of factors anywhere from the tps position to engine load etc. Most people like the fact the the PC deletes the O2 sensors and compenates as it give you a widerchoice of styles as exhust bungs for O2's were not installed until 06. Yes you can install them in almost any pipe to make it work but then you have to ask yourself why. The mans question was how can I get the most bang for my buck with 600 bucks taking the whole picture into account considering a little bit of ebay shopping and you can find a PC for under 300 and have the wider choices in exhaustto include gently used pre 06 stuff a K&N air filter for 50-60 bucks,plus he would have the PC's web based programing and customer support in the same easy to find placeplace. Added to the fact that he doesn't seem to be extensively schooled in mechanics and I thought that weas such a large group of people who have done alotof these mods could talk him through this installation including the pipes and air cleaner etc should he run into problems. This way further savin him more of his money to purchase parts, beer, basically any thing but **** at away at the stealer.But stand by my earlier argument that with all the companies manufactering tuning/reflashingproducts that basically is nothing but plastic and wirethat there is undobtably a few products that outpreform the SERT otherwise why would so many of thses product be on the market being used by so many people to include big name builders and performance shops. I thiknk that the real problem here lies in the fact that alot of you have for far to long looked at the industry as a wholewith blinders on or made some sort of concious choicebe ignorant to the exsitence of high quality lower priced non factory parts, and that we have allowed the dealers to raise they're prices to such an unreasonable level by letting them to bully and misleed you into thinking that they are the only SAFE viable option.

Honestly whats in there is a circuit board a battery microchips all are mainly made from plastic and wire. Correct? All that is used to hold the program. Lines of code designed to operate the various sensors and function of the feul system I don't pretend to be able to read/write code but its not some kinda of magical secret what it does.
Get the SERT...too many guys are having problems with the PCIII and a lot of dealers are giving people warranty refusal issues because the PCIII is not a Harley Davidson part.
If possible - please add a link to threads or discussions where "guys are having problems with the PCIII". I read most of the threads in this forum and others, and I guess I'm familiar with the PCIII / SERT debate, but don't recall any discussions that indicate that the PCIII is not a viable solution for dialing the air/fuel mix. I'll be the first one to throw my PCIII in the trash if in fact it's a junker, but I've had it on the dyno, and I have AF mix plots over full RPM range, and it performs quite well.
I think like all things there will always be different opinions. I have talked to a couple of dealers regarding the sert vs the pcIII debate, some use sert some use pcIII. Some say your warrenty is void if you use either some say its void if you use a sert some say its void if you use the pcIII. See where im going with this, there is a ton of information available out here in cyberspace some accurate and some not so.

Many of these threads go sideways and end up in a different place than where they start - just a nature of the beast and the fact that in many cases the advice that is given is based on opinions. In my experience the dealers (and HD) will do everything in their power to try to void the warranty, so you are correct - some say one thing and others say something else.

Here is what I paid for "stage 1", most parts on ebay, includes shipping:
SEII slipons $120 (lightly used)
PCIII $160 (new)
SE filter $140
dyno tune $250
total =$670
Moral of the story is - I'm a cheap b*stard - this is about as cheap as you can do it and get a dyno tune, which most would agree is the right thing to do. Even this "cheap" method exceeds the $600 budget.
So here is my setup. i just bought installed it all by myself, NO HELP from anyone!!!
PCIII - Fuelmoto $280.00
Vance and Hines short shot Staggered - American Classic Motors (They match prices!!!) $281.99
Arlen Ness Big Sucker - American Classic Motors $99.95
Beer $5.50
Total time to install - 4 hours for everything.
Grand Total - $660.99 minus the beer
Now I'm no rocket scientist, but I think that I got a very good deal. Plus I thought that my bike was a blast to ride before, but now it is a completely different experience.
I'm sorry if I came off on a rant but the point I was making is comming out. YOU cannot begin to do upgrades for 600 if he buys from the dealer. There are cheaper products which do not have the HD licence fees added on. If you think that Harley actually makes this stuff then I have some great Ocean front property in Arizona I'll give you a hell of deal on. LOL. I don't think PC is neccesarily the best product but I sure don't think the SERT is. BUt my point about it being nothing more than plastic still stands true. Regardless of what product you buy the all do the same think reprogram the feul curve. And my point that you can do it just as good cheaper I mean its obvios thats true. Anyhow whatever you do I hope it works out for you well and that you enjoy your bike as much as I enjoy mine.
