I have a '13 Street Bob with about 4.5K on it and looking at getting new bars to go with a differnt look and feel to the bike but sorta hesitant on what to get. I'm looking at the R6C apes, and trying to decide if I want to stay with 12's or go up to 14's. I'm 5' 7" and I rotated my stock bars forward so they sit more straight up, they sit a little below my shoulder, maybe armpit height, and 14's I have measured out will come to shoulder height or a little over depending on if I'm slouching.
My question is will the 2" make a big difference in my handling and maneuverability in tighter spots or will it just take a little getting used to?
I measured out my stock set up and it is 2" risers with 12" bars (makes a total of 14").
Any personal advice or opinions would be much appreciated, also if you have pics of you on your bike with 14's it would also be appreciated.
If I would have went with apes on my bike, they would have been 14". I'm 5'7" tall as well. If you are thinking 14" go with them, otherwise done the road you would have wished you did.
As far as handling and turning, I don't really thing the difference would be that noticeable.
2" won't make a huge difference in the way it handles, maybe a little getting used to but I think shoulder height is the most comfortable position for your hands.

Ditto on the shoulder height. I love my 14's and that's where they are.
I'm 5'10 and have the road six customs 14 inch apes. They sit just below me shoulder height. They are pushes forward to sit straight up also. I should have got the 16's instead but I am going to get new risers to make up the two inches i want.
Take this post with a grain of salt since it's just info I gathered while researching bars for my 2012 Street Bob and not personal experience......
My stock bars are 10in with the integrated risers on the top tree so it's basically a total of 10 in. When I was looking into R6C apes I read that due to how they are made the 12 in bars really wouldn't be much taller at the grip.
So if what I read was true, and assuming you keep the risers you have and your current bars are 12in, the 14in bars from R6C should put you right around where you are right now.
While I think extremely tall apes would affect your maneuverability, ones around these heights shouldn't be a problem, just may take a few minutes to get used to. I ended up going with 12in burly narrows and I like them a lot, just a little taller and wider than stock.
