Default Hole in my tank!!!!

Ok, I started my night off by stopping by the gas station before riding into work. I noticed a very strong gas smell, no biggie I thought, DUH, I'm at a gas STATION!!! Well, I rode the 13.5 miles to work, every once and a while smelling a faint gas smell. I checked to make sure I the cap was on tight, and I didn’t get gas on the tank. It was on tight and I didn't get gas anywhere. Well, I park in the 'Motorcycle Parking' when my buddy notices my bike is leaking gas!! Before I even got off the bike to make matters worse!! Well, I frantically check the bike to see if I can tell where the leak is. Nope, all I can tell is it's comin' from underneath the tank SOMEWHERE. Well I got the bike trailer home, and BTW, she still leakin gas. GREAT.
Well, I disconnected the tank. To my dismay I found the hole, pics to come.
Well, there was a pin hole in the tank where my throttle cables had actually rubbed two notches into the tank. Ok, the throttle cables where on the bike when I bought it, braided stainless. I'm not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but it happened to me. So, anyway, I used high heat JBWeld and fixed the tank. Before putting the tank back on, I cut a rubber hose to fit over the throttle cables, then used electrical tape on it. This seems to be working, any ideas on a long term fix??

Thanks ya'll!!

Better have the hole(s) welded shut, touch-up paint/clear, or find an ebay tank.

I did a similar repair on my old 68 triumph and it held up for over 10 years then I sold it.
If it's working for you , run it till you have a problem again then when you got it off again get it welded or brazed.

Thanks. I thought that might be it, but it worked for others.....I was hoping to avoid the weld job.
