Put a catch pan under it marv.
How much is a half pint of oil??
I don't think much will come out anyway, not sure.
I've got a 98 Dyna Superglide and was wondering how difficult it is to change the cam cover. I talked to a dealership and they said they would have to do it because the cover holds the cam in place. According to the Service book it doesn't appear to be that difficult but I'm not sure. I'd had to get into the project and get stuck. Any info would be a great help.
Go to this link. There are pictures of removing the cam cover (plus a lot of other stuff). It looks like there wasn't much oil in the cam cover. The removal and reinstallation of the bolts was noted for paying attention to where they came out and went back although, this may be in reference to not mixing the cover bolts with the cam plate bolts as this was removed inthis tutorial also.
