Default Harley Windshields

I am going to purchase a windshield soon. I want it for traveling and I'd really like to use the new clamp on connector so I can remove it and still have the clean look (no remaining hardware). Can anyone tell me how the clamps are holding up on long runs? Also, would anyone recommend the smoked over the clear? I'm thinking I want the touring model. If I'm going to use one I want it to cover as much as possible. Any ideas there?

Thanks,

Dave

I have heard that the clamps on the newer type break if not set right. I have the Memphis Shade type and I like it. I have the clear and my brother has the solar. The clamps are not really that bad as for as looks. I hope this might help you.

I have the touring Windshield. It has worked really well so far. I got the clear one since some of my riding is done at night.

I got new standard, clear, stock windshield with quick removable clamps on front forks last week. I rode cople of hundred KM,it fits well on the motorcycle. I considerthat my view is clearwich meansmy eyesight aimabove the windshield to the road to avoid any deformation winshield maight cause.
But on the other way, bad side of clamps is, that some theif would not have much labour to take it down if some such occasion will appear.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to try the clear touring model with quick release since I won't use it that often. I enjoy riding without a shield but spring and fall trips almost require it in NC. I've done the 4 hours (each way) to Myrtle Beach several times without a shield and I loved it!!
