I just put a Windvest 14" tall on my 13 Wide Glide with 12" apes and it does a good job of relieving the pressure on your chest and not much buffeting. Im very happy with it. With your bars you may want to go with the 16" tall version. It is a quality windshield and very easy to R&R

Love it. Dumped the quick release also. Hated the mounts on the blinkers. Mounts to riser. Get the big one. You will still see over the top.

Hey, looks like there's a used Windvest for sale in the classifieds.

Im on my 3rd windshield. First was HD QR Compact, horrible buffeting. Then HD SuperSport QD, better, but still not quite what I was looking for. Now I have the LRS Mustang. Although its not a QR, I think it out performs HD's hands down. Smaller surface area but still provides the functionality that I need. I still get plenty of wind in the face with no buffeting and no pressure in my chest.

Default Windshield Thoughts

Unlike fairings, windshields primarily keep the wind off your upper body. Getting the perfect windshield to keep your head in the "cacoon" so you get no buffeting is nearly impossible. Our friends riding metric sport tourers with electric adjustable windshields have garages filled with different height, width and shaped windshields in search of perfection which is unattainable. After an 18 inch HD proved too high (didn't want to look through the plastic) I traded for the 14 inch and it is fine. I am now going to buy a 3/4 helmet (Shoei J Cruise) to keep my ears and eyes functional and allow the windshield to do its job when I hit the road for extended rides. Locally I wear a skull cap and sponge ear plugs and Pan-Optic sunglasses, which are great.

Save your money. Use a jig-saw on yours and make it into what you want.

I appreciate everybody's input. Probably going to go with a Windvest, seems to be pretty universally loved.

The problem I had with windshields is just that. They don't block the wind from underneath which causes buffeting. Putting my arm across my chest confirmed it. The buffeting went away completely when I did. Trouble is, finding a way to block that lower wind without turning the bike into a bagger. Going with a quarter fairing completely solved my problem. It may help the OP, but they aren't cheap.
