JRI shocks on FXD
If you have 49mm forks up front, the fork brace wont do much. I had a wobble at 120km and check all the normal points (tire, balance, fall away, head bearings) and also had the fork brace. When I added the true track, wobble went away. Can also try Sputhe as they will sell just the front, which seems to be the culprit.
I didn't have my wife and a buddy available for the dialing-in process so I improvised. I stood my bike up in a front-wheel chock, took the initial shock length measurement, and then piled 40-lb bags of birdseed, cat litter, and water softener salt on the seat until the weight equaled the combined weight of rider and passenger. I measured again and adjusted the springs so I had about 3/4" of sag. Then I counted the exposed threads on both shocks to make sure they were equal. Bingo.
In the process, I also learned that changing the seat makes a huge difference in ride quality. The ride even with new shocks felt horrible when I had a stiff Mustang seat under me, but when I changed to a Harley hammock the ride was amazingly different.
My Legends setup endured a 10,000-mile ride to/from Alaska this summer without any problem at all, despite many, many miles of absolutely **** roads.
Seeing how happy you are with the rear shocks, I would suggest you have Howard help you with the front end as well. I saw you bought the Gold Valves, but I think youll get a better ride with Howards components.
IMHO,
Dave
