I picked up a used black Corbin Classic Solo last Oct (seat with backrest) as a test for this season. Figured, if I really like it, I'll have Corbin make me "the" seat and give this seat to my wife for her FLD.

Seat position - Slight down (maybe 1") and slightly back (roughly 1"). I have a 34" inseam and would have preferred up 1", but so far seating position is good. The front of the seat is narrow and have no complaints.

Features - The seat is leather with studs and without additional stitching.
* Backrest - Attaches underneath the seat and can not be stolen without removing the seat. I understand on Mustang seats with backrests, the backrest is very easy to remove (too easy for me). Corbin's offers front to back adjustability, but no height or pitch adjustability. It works for me.
* Anti Theft - AFAIK, Corbin is the only seat that actually locks to the bike. This is huge for me. I can't imagine dropping $ on a seat, where all someone has to do to steal it is remove the rear mounting screw.
* Hard Foam - The 1st thing I noticed on it's maiden ride, was how much more "road feel" the seat transmits. I've since done the front suspension (Racetech springs and Gold Valve Emulators) and Hagon Nitro shocks for the rear, and the additional "road feel" is much less noticeable now. Still more than stock and the HD Tallboy seat I was using previous, but not offensive. I was apprehensive on comfort for an all day ride, but so far so good. I don't feel worn out on a full day ride, as I would with the stock / HD Tallboy seat.
* Leather - I'm totally sold on a leather seat now. I don't slide around as much and it seems to not give me swamp ***. Granted, summer hasn't hit yet, but I would have noticed the swamp *** effect by now.

A note on Corbin's CS

As mentioned, my seat is the Classic Solo w/ backrest. While I love the solo look, I wanted a pillion for passengers and a place for my T-Bag to rest when on trips. On Corbins website, they specifically state the full Dual Tour and the passenger seat for the Classic Solo will not fit the FLD (both my wife and I have FLD's) when using a sissy bar/luggage rack. I called Corbin to find out why their seats will not fit the FLD, while other seats I've tried (just about every HD Dyna seat they make) fit perfectly. Reason - Corbin's rear portion of the Dual Tour and passenger seat for the Classic Solo bump up against the mounting brackets. The FLD's positioning of the brackets is closer in than on other Dyna's.

They made me a custom passenger seat taken in 1" on each side in the same design style as my existing seat. The rear of the passenger seat kind of tapers inward towards the back end, and I think it looks sharp and fits perfectly. While not cheap, especially for a passenger seat, they delivered on a perfectly fitted, styled and well made product.

I'd read quite a few experiences on Corbin's CS that were not favorable. From my experience, I thought they kicked ***. I'd endorse them any day of the week.

Also.....

Other seats that I was considering were the Mustang Wide Touring w/ backrest, and the C&C Sport Tour w/ backrest. I'd read quite a few very positive reviews on both seats, especially the Mustang in regards to comfort.

The way I saw it was the following. Keep in mind, my needs may not be in synch with the OP's....

Mustang Wide Touring (only experience was sitting on a demo model at the IMS show)
Pro's -
* Supposed to be one of the leading seats for comfort
* I liked the seating position (1" up and 1" back...this would be perfect for ME)
* Probably the most versatile positioning for the backrest (front/rear, up/down and pitch)
Con's -
* Easily stolen backrest
* Easily stolen seat
* Does not come in leather
* Does not offer the level of customized styling of some other brands (Corbin, C&C, etc.)
* Existing styling is kind of stodgy

C&C Sport Tour (no direct experience, but investigated heavily including a few conversations with C&C)
Pro's -
* Styling - While styling is subjective, I like the overall look of the seat
* Customization - Lots of stiching and color options
* Available in leather
* Reasonably priced
Con's -
* Not positive, but I don't believe the backrest offers adjustability
* Seat does not lock to the bike
* Front is wide and rubs tank
* Seating position - Again subjective, but for me conversations with C&C, the seat is a little too low and far back. I understand the seating position is similar to the Corbin, but a bit "more".

Hope this helps!

My C&C Sport Tour doesn't rub the paint on my '02 FXD.
