Default fxdwg seat differences between years

does anyone know the specific difference between wideglide seats for 06-07 models and models prior to 06? Is it a fender clearance or hardware spacing thing? The reason I ask is because Im trying to get a deal off of ebay, but they don't have anything for 07. BTW you'll probably be exposed to alot of harley newbie posts from me that might seem extremely ignorant to you . Just bought my first harley this week and I don't have many peers that own one. thanks.

First of all welcome and congrats on the new bike. As far as your question about the seats,....The 06 and later dynas do have a wider rear fender and I also believe the hole spacing on the seats is different as well. Any of the 06-later Dyna seats will fit your wideglide though.

I have an 06 Superglide and was looking for a take off seat to replace the original solo seat. I got on Ebay and purchased a seat from an 05 Wideglide and another seat from and 06 Wideglide. The 05 seat came in first so I installed it. It fit perfectly. A few days later, the 06 seat came in. I installed it and it fit exactly the same. I have seen posts where guys said the 05 seatsfit fine and others say the needed a longer bracket. If it helps inspire you, I paid $30.00 for the 05 seat I tried, and resold it in Ebay for $104.00.

I'm posting this more so that you are aware, really - you mentioned prior to '06 - my '04 seat was the worst piece of crap ever. It felt like those little cushions you can buy at a football game, you know the ones that are about 1/2 inch thick. Take that and drape it over the frame rails - that's the '04 WG seat. Ran out and bought a Mustang seat. Couldn't be happier. For the sake of '05 and newer owners, I sure hope HD made better seats!

the mounting tabs should be the only problem....however if you get into the 02-04 wide glides the seat mounts different....the front bracket goes into the frame and not under the tank like the 07's....if i remember correctly

but the 05 06 and 07's should fit

i bought a lowrider seat for my 06 superglide on ebay and all i had to do to get it to fit was get a longer seat bracket for the rear.....but as long as the front tab mounts under the tank you should be fine....

and congrats on the new bike....and welcome!
