Default Need help with adjustable pushrods.

I need some help with the adjustment on adjustable pushrods.
I have a 2005 Dyna that I just put new lifters and new adjustable pushrods (Screaming Eagle brand). I am now trying to adjust the pushrods to the proper length. I am using the YouTube video created by S&S -
as a guideline.
I have taken the cam to base circle as described in the video and then tried to adjust the pushrod. Note the lifter are drying, no oil in them.
The video states that after you take the play out of the pushrod, you then lengthen the pushrod the required number of turns, I used 3 full turns. It then states to wait for the lifter to bleed down and the pushrod should spin freely. Since these are new dry lifter, there is no wait time for the lifter to bleed down.
I problem is even after waiting a while I am still not able to spin the pushrod. My worry it that I am adjusting the pushrod to long, and if so I run the possibility of a piston striking the value. I have done this adjustment three time and I just don't feel comfortable in the adjustment I've make. How can I determine if I have done the adjustment right? Should the pushrod spin as the video states or is it because there is no oil in the lifter and that's why it does spin?
Thanks in advance

New lifters shoud be pre oiled
I always soak them and pump them while soaking this way they are not dry on start up.

I can tell you it usually takes at least a half hour for the pushrod to bleed down. If you don't wait your next pushrod will be mal adjusted. There's never oil in there after you've opened up the pushrod tubes. The pushrod has to spin , with a little resistance granted, before you move on. Oil or no oil.

Have a look at fuel moto's videos too! http://www.fuelmotousa.com/site/107-inch-big-bore.html

Not all lifters are the same. Three turns may be too much. The idea is to adjust the pushrods until the lifter is 50% compressed.

3 turns is never too much, even if its a 24 tpi pushrod which calls for 2 1/2 turns. I've gone 3 and change turns on those and over 4 turns on higher thread counts to avoid chatter. Something else is not right?

3 turns with the SE pushrods worked perfect for me.

Are you sure your not compressing the springs before your starting your adjustment?

Thanks for the info
Harleycruiser: How do you pump up the lifters to get oil into them. I am soaking the lifters in a container of oil. When I put them in the oil I used a pushrod to push down the plunger a few times. Is this right way to get oil inside the lifter?

Yep soaking several hours/over night will do it or put them in oil and then just pump them several times with a push rod will bled out any air.

Just go have a couple beers and let them bleed down overnight.
