Default VHT on Exhaust Shield

The Previous Owners black powdercoat job on my exhaust shields/covers is starting to flake off. Im thinking of using the VHT to wrinkle black them to match everything else on my bike (07 street bob) Wondering if anyone has used this on the exhaust covers before and if they used the VHT primer as well... I would think one can of each would be enough but I might do my derby cover as well...Thanks!

I have used VHT on heat sheilds with great results. But WARNING be sure to use the VHT for Headers which is good to 1200 degrees while the engine version is only good to 500 degrees.
Proper application and heat cycling is the key to a durable finish.
You will need to do a recoat after a year or two since it will be prone to chips and some fading.

Why not just repowder them? Powder will cost a bit more but look a lot better and last longer.

Default Ceramic Coatings

Go to this website: www.jet-hot.com. This is ceramic coating which will keep the pipes cooler and will last. They come in various colors but black and polished are probably the most popular. My brother in law owns five bikes (Dukati and BMW) and routinely sends every header pipe to them. Cost is reasonable ( $100 for two pipes) and the work will last. Use the series 1300 coating for bike headers. Largest selection of colors.
