Question Engine builders & engine kit recommendations

Hey guys,

I want to do a 107" w/ head work. I know fuel moto has a great kit and its all ready to drop in when you buy from them.

But I want some other options too. I'm in Illinois so I will need to send my heads and cylinders out. Should I get compression reliefs?

How is Hillside Cycles, Kirby Apathy(Vee Twin Performance), Baisly, & others? Prices and experience will be a huge help(more info the better).

I plan on installing myself no prob. & want to do it right(lifters, cams, push rods) but don't want to break the bank. Trying not to be over $2,000.

Thanks

Hey HD Bobber, sounds like you are doing your homework like me. Might check out the Tech Forums: Engine/Fuel/Intake/Exhaust - a lot of good info and I have a thread going that might help you some. Good luck, I will be following this thread.

hey man for 107 i would also say have the cank welded and true'd as well as the bearing replacement, i went with a lefty bearing as that is less $$$$ than the Timkin and i was not pushing the insane HP to need the Timkin... so you will need to split the cases for this. to keep the costs under 2g you are going to be looking at used parts... i went with WFO larry to do my head work, flat out the best IMO, and he is local to us. hahaha just be sure you plan it out man, i am not a fan of the cookie cutter build kits you can buy... those are the guys that are pissed off when they find themselves in my rear view wondering why their 107 just got smashed by a 95 hahaha... you you liking that gearing set up? if you have any motor questions let me know. Chad (redrubicon on here) built my motor with me. he is a wealth of knowledge as is THEDON on here and many others. Chad is a good buddy of mine and i ride with him pretty often, he has the blue bagger with the 26 fron wheel and the huge NOS bottle hahahah goes fast ... hahaha

I'm afraid 2K isn't gonna cover it....remember you gotta tune it when your done......don't skimp out on the tune, it's just as important as the components

100% I use valley racing for all our tuning needs... they have done prob 7 bikes for me and about 8 or 9 of my friends... do great work but it is $$$$ but they get the most out of the motors!

Joe, The rear PULLEY is awesome! LOVE IT!

Gave Valley Racing a call and their prices don't seem to bad $250 bore clinders and $600 for stage one head work, which he said that will be perfeect for 575 cams.

I definitly don't want to split cases. I know benefits are huge, but so are the costs when all is added up though.

I'm going to call Dragos and see what he's about(post my findings).

As for the tune I'm gonna put Zippers to work and get my $1000 worth by sending in my specs and having them dial in a map for me and have autotune finish up the details.

Take a look at the T Man TR600SM.. WFO Larry is a well respected porter who will get it done.. My T-Max saved me a lot of coin over the years on getting the tune right.. I just changed over to the 4.9 injectors and it was a breeze getting it dialed in..

+1 on WFO Larry. My brother sent his jugs and heads to him for his 95" build. Used S&S 570 cams with larry's stage 2 headwork, 100hp, 101tq and that is with a 2 into 2 pipe, V&H Big Shots Staggered
