Hey guys & gals, just got done cleaning the bike, washed, wax, and chrome polish.
I noticed on the triple tree where my tool bag was mounted the chrome is dull and cloudy, tried my best to get it to shine to no avail. I didnt have the tool bag on there that long at all so I was surprised to see that happen.
Any tips or suggestions for getting the brilliance back on the chrome?
While I am at it, I also noticed a small area on my rear fender kind of hidden away where it looks like I forgot to buff out wax and now its hard as a rock, any change of getting that buffed out?
Don't know about the lower fork brace on your WG but braces on both of my Dynas are actually polished Aluminum. I keep those nice and shiny with Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish. Test the upper flat surface with alum. polish, if the cloth/metal turn black, it's probably aluminum.
If its chrome I'm thinking its done. The leather probably rubbed some of the finish off thus making it dull. Leather is smooth but when the wind wiggles that bag few thousand times it acts like sandpaper.
Not sure on the composition either? But I have been using neverdull since day 1 and it has worked great. That dang tool bag got me! Might try what Dozer40 suggested, but kind of nervous about that.
Mothers mag and aluminum polish will help a lot. However it is designed for wheels so it has a watery feel to it.
I think you would get better results with Movers Aluminum polish in the plastic red jar. It is a paste.
I hit mine with white jewelry rouge with a 6inch buffing wheel on my drill and then hit it with the mothers. Lowes carries the wheel and white jewelry rouge. Walmart for the mothers polish. it will look like chrome when your done. Takes me about 15 minutes.

The trees on my 06 WideGlide are also polished aluminum, not chrome. The upside of the aluminum is that there's no amount of scratching that can't be removed. The downside is that it's higher maintenance than chrome if you want to keep it at a high polish, and it's easier to scratch in the first place.
