I have this grinding noise coming from the left side of the tranny case...any suggestions of what it might be? Bike has 11,000 miles on it, it's a 06 Street Bob, it only does it when it's in neutral and clutch is out or it's in gear and it will run through each gear but loudest when it's in first and then when I'mslowing down to stopat a light, it hesitates likes it still in gear coming to the stop even when the clutch is engaged...
Thanks for any suggestions, my first "road bike" - used to ride dirt, never had any trouble like this before.
inner primary bearing i'd assume without an inspection. take it to your favorite dealer(sarcasm's free) and let them look into it. there was a recall and then they "recalled" the recall. I'd think it's that bearing or perhaps the primary chain itself is misaligned. goo luck and don't forget to post results for others with the same issue.

B9,
I know there have been numerous posts on this 'recalled recall' I have a late-year 2006 SB - has this problem suposedly been rectified??????
Have you had your primary chain tensioner adjusted? It needs to be adjusted after a few thousand miles so you don't get too much slop in the chain. Just a thought but easy to check. Pull off the inspection cover and feel the chain, it should have about 3/8" free play and can be adjusted with a 9/16 socket and a 6" extension on a 3/8 ratchet-----jack
