decided to go through with the bike deal, dude payed over $800 to an independent shop and HD to fix the electric problem
now some new stuff, he threw in a sissy bar with quick detach brackets and a friend had given me a HD sissy bar with other type brackets, I just got a new seat for the bike and the quick detach sissy bar does not fit around it, the other HD sissy bar does but the brackets dont match up to the bike
the other HD sissy bar will not work with the quick detach brackets because they have a smaller groove to hold the smaller sissy bar SO...
is there anything I can do here to make these parts fit on this rail??
should I grind down those thin grooves so I can simply bolt up the larger sissy bar?
OR is there a way to adapt the rail to the bolt on brackets?
and I sold the maltese cross air cleaner since I didn't like the way it rubbed my leg, I got the big sucker installed then realized plain aluminum clashes with the bike, I ordered a new kit for black backplate and cover, I'll return the aluminum one to HD at that point which I'm sure they'll be happy about
oh and I amost forgot to mention, my kickstand seems to be pretty standard but I have the damndest time "catching" it with my boot to pull it down from the primary cover, any suggestions? can I attach and "catches" to it to make it easier to grab?

I've seen extensions you can buy that bolt on the end of the jiffy stand to extend it.
From the looks of the photo you might have the mounts installed incorrectly as they are different than I have them and I have the same Sissybar and mount kit. One thing is it looks like you might be missing some spacers, washers, and the rear button head bolts. The large "U" shaped grove in the side bracket should slip right into the front collar on the mount and the rear clamp should line up so that it clamps around the rear wider collar mount. If they are not lining up then you are missing spacers and washers.
Try assembling the Sissybar first then try installing it.
Mine works well although the latches are stiff, but it also does not rattle like other owners have reported.
I hope that all helps.

thanks for the replies, the smaller sissy bar did end up fitting- my mistake BUT one of the previous owners snapped a bolt inside one of the mounts (I've always known with chrome and stainless to use anti-seize) and he tried to drill and tap it out but apparently broke his extraction screw inside, now my drill bits cant get a good start and instead they want to drill the chrome, how the hell do I get that broken bolt out? I cant get to it dead on from the inside of the bar
here is the kick stand, not sure if its jiffy
the left side passenger peg keeps dropping, is that as simple as tightening the bolt?

Wow that just plain sux. Without seeing it first hand I'm not quite sure what advice I can give you to get that broken bolt out.
BTW, I forgot to mention to install mine with my Saddleman Exployer I need to remove the seat, install the Sissybar, then reinstall the seat. To accommodate this I replaced the Phillips head seat screw with a knurled end screw.

I am ****ing besides myself, I installed the new spring washer EXACTLY as it is supposed to be and it still falls with vibration, I bought the Ryobi One right angle drill, got a perfect hole in the back of the broken bolt then tried an extractor and broke it, none of my titanium coated bits will drill through the broken extractors so I am done with the ****ing thing, it will just have 3 bolts to secure so I don't pull my ****ing beard out

Did you ever try drilling from the back side? Again without having it in my hands I can only imagine it so sorry if I sound like I am talking down to you and recommending something you might have tried already.
