I pulled the ugly *** badges off my 2010 FXDC & ran it naked for awhile. Took a cell phone pic of the tank on a 2011 Iron 883, had my son turn the pic into a printable form, and then had a local graphics company make some decals. For $21.00 they will work fine until I decide to do something else.
Don't do it under clear coat. Put it on top. Just thinking from a resale perspective. Some hate emblems some love them. Especially with custom paint jobs, having the flexibility to remove or ads different ones is more versatile. That's if u plan to ever sell.
I've done custom paint jobs on my bikes before and resale isn't something I'd consider. If you worried about resale you wouldn't do a custom paint job in the first place

When I was looking for a project bike, I was considering a well used old FXD with a ridiculously hideous "ripped machine" custom paint scheme. The salesman was telling me about this "expensive" custom paint and was trying to jack up the price and I kept telling him that it was terrible and just not my style and kept pushing down the price...we finally agreed on a price that did not include any "extra" cost for a custom paint job that I hated...
I rode with that paint for awhile and got a few compliments, but in the end, it had to go...repainted and blank for now as I try to decide what to do, if anything.
